Barbie has enjoyed tremendous success at the box office, and it won’t surprise many if Barbie and Ken of Barbie Land end up paving the way for numerous toy-inspired live-action movies to not only get transformed into feature films but also register huge collections.

On the back of Barbie’s success, Mattel, who ruled the toy industry during the mid and late-20th century by introducing their iconic doll Barbie to the market, might end up challenging MCU and DCU in giving life to their characters on the big screen on a regular basis and make big bucks off of it.

It’s understood, the toy powerhouse is actively working on several entertainment projects and has already roped in Vin Diesel for one of their movies.

After Margot Robbie, Vin Diesel Joins Hands With Barbie’s Manufacturers

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are getting tons of praise for portraying the character of Barbie and Ken in Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie. The colorful project might have looked risky to many A-listers during its inception,  and even before the movie’s release on the 21st of July not much was being made about their work in comparison to Christopher Nolan’s serious piece, Oppenheimer.

The Cillian Murphy-led movie triggered more curiosity from fans and more limelight from the media. However, early reactions at the box office show it’s Robbie and Gosling who are reaping the majority of the rewards.

Vin Diesel, who has so far made his name with his serious portrayal of Dominic Toretto – who only cares about driving exotic cars and saving his family – in the famous Fast and Furious franchise, is next in the line to collaborate with Mattel to develop a whole new movie franchise.

The 56-year-old will play a major role in Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots – a movie based on Mattel’s hugely popular tabletop game of battling robots.

“We’re working on developing a script and we’re all very excited about it,” Robbie Brenner said.

Brenner is currently in charge of running Mattel Films and is an executive producer on Barbie.

How Much Did Vin Diesel’s Fast X Earn at the Box Office

It’s not surprising to see Diesel explore a new project, as his popular Fast and Furious series is approaching its end. Much like Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible franchise, the culmination period of Dom and his family’s adventures is also split into two films.

Fast X was the tenth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise and it was released in May of this year. The movie that shows Dom face off against unfathomable antagonist Dante (Jason Momoa) was a big hit, making over a staggering $719 million worldwide.

As such, the excitement for its sequel and the final showpiece of the iconic franchise: Fast X: Part 2 has reached new heights. The film is scheduled to arrive in the theaters on April 4, 2025.
