Jenna Fischer says her chemistry with The Office co-star John Krasinski was ‘real’
During an interview with The Off Camera Show with Sam Jones, actress-author Jenna Fischer was asked about her chemistry with her fellow actor John Krasinski on The Office. Their respective characters, Pam and Jim, are considered the souls of the sitcom. Apart from Steve Carell’s Michael Scott and Rain Wilson’s Dwight Schrute, if viewers talk about the sitcom, then it is about Jim & Pam. The actress shared,
I think a lot of times people think chemistry means you’re in love with that person in real life and you would date, marry, or have s*x like that. But for me, chemistry is when you have to work the least to be as authentic as your character, so when I met John and I worked with John, I didn’t have to try at all.
The actress goes on to explain that there is a place, like physically, where once she gets to that spot, she is Pam. She described that spot could be like a few inches away from Krasinski’s shoulder. She added that it just happens like magic, pointing that’s the magical thing about chemistry. Fischer continued,
That is what was so amazing about working with him—we didn’t have to try; we just were it. It’s amazing.
Jenna Fischer shared about their chemistry on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (via E! News), where she said that they have real chemistry. The actress goes on to explain that there is a part of her that is Pam and a real part of Krasinski that’s Jim, and those parts of them were genuinely in love with one another. But in real life, the actress said they are not Pam and Jim, so in real life there is not a perfect match.
Fischer noted that Krasinski was the type of spouse that she had for a long time, adding that he was her partner and that they would always be close. Fischer is married to writer-director Lee Kirk, while John Krasinski is married to Emily Blunt.
John Krasinski clarified Jenna Fischer’s ‘genuinely in love’ comment
After Jenna Fischer’s comment on sharing real chemistry with co-star John Krasinski was made public, fans of the show couldn’t stop gushing over the fact that the actress said that there is a part of them that is genuinely in love. But it is not quite what she meant, because of which the actor had to clarify what exactly she meant.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, he said,
I think that was wildly misquoted or taken out of context. I’m sure she was trying to say something nice about how genuine the acting relationship was—bringing a relationship that became that popular onscreen, and I think we both feel it’s such an honor to be a part of that relationship.
Krasinski, however, noted that as far as she was quoted as saying they were genuinely in love, that was taken wildly out of context, and he feels bad for her. In an interview with Today in 2013, the actor noted that neither of them had an idea what was coming for them or how much the audience would be involved.
The actor said he felt amazing that his character or his character’s relationship resonated with the fans. The actor spoke to ET Canada (via ScreenRant) where he noted that he’d like to work with Jenna Fischer on anything because not only is she a great actress, but she is an amazing person.
