Angel Manuel Soto preferred live location over CGI/VFX in the production of Blue Beetle

In a cinematic world where every other superhero movie is filled with VFX/ CGI an effort for something real is welcomed by all. Considering this demand, the director Angel Manuel Soto of the movie Blue Beetle starring Xolo Mariduena which was released yesterday the 18th of August has preferred using practical effects over CGI.

“We didn’t want to exploit the VFX artists as much as they have already been exploited. And using real locations allowed us to better integrate the practical suits, so the VFX serves as an enhancement. It’s a tool, not a dependency, which helped make this whole thing feel bigger than life.”
