‘We Getting the F*cking God Simon Williams!’: Fans React to MCU’s New Wonder Man Series
Marvel is apparently creating a Wonder Man series for Disney+, according to reports. Following the success of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton teams up with Andrew Guest, best known for writing and producing shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Community, to develop this series for Marvel.

Wonder Man (a.k.a. Simon Williams), a superhero mystified by ionic energy, was first introduced as a villain on the comic page. The character has close links to characters like the Scarlet Witch and Vision and has featured as a member of the Marvel superteam The Avengers on multiple occasions. Despite being rumored to feature in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Simon Williams has yet to appear in the MCU. After rumors of a secret Disney+ project, Wonder Man is now set to make his Marvel Studios debut.
Wonder Man to bless our screens soon
Within the MCU, The Hollywood Reporter revealed plans for a Wonder Man Disney+ series from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton and Brooklyn Nine-Nine/Community writer Andrew Guest. The project is still in its early stages of development, but filming may begin as early as 2023. This series had previously been described as a comedy, with Variety writer Joe Otterson speculating that it may be a “Hollywood satire.”

In the universe of Marvel Comics, Wonder Man has a rich history. Simon Williams, a criminal turned hero who first appeared in 1964, is bestowed with abilities after being compelled to take on the Avengers in order to keep his family’s company afloat. It’ll be fascinating to see what kind of origin Wonder Man gets in the MCU, as well as who gets the privilege of portraying the character.

All of this is, however, a long way off, since Wonder Man is currently in the early stages of production and has no set release date.
