“We knew there was something cognitively wrong, it wasn’t a secret”: Bruce Willis’ Close Friend Reveals an Accident From 2003 Reportedly Made His Life a Living Hell
Bruce Willis was unmistakably a 90s icon. He had carved out a name for himself as a specialist in action movies over the course of his decades-long career. It was after a long cycle of suffering that he stands where he is currently.
But much to his fans’ despair, his days as a specialist were cut short in the aftermath of a life-changing accident. In a shocking piece of news, he announced his retirement this year. And one of his friends revealed the reason behind his retirement from acting just recently.
Not the happy ending everyone expected
When it was announced in March that Bruce Willis would no longer feature in any film, people didn’t know how to make sense of the decision. It was sudden, to say the least. Though the peak of his career was long gone, he was still making his presence felt in the industry by featuring in low-budget feature films.
But come March, the curtains were set on a swashbuckling career. Nine months down the line, a possible cause of his departure from the industry has come to light. According to rumors coming from one of his friends, Bruce Willis is suffering from Aphasia, a cognitive disorder that hampered his ability to communicate with the people around him.

It was in 2003 that Willis was in Antoine Fuqua’s Tears of the Sun. It was while filming the movie that a projectile hit him on his head. And according to the German outlet, Filmstarts, it was this accident that caused him aphasia, a brain injury that impacts a person’s ability to communicate with other people.
The statement issued in March read, “Our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is affecting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
That was the end of one of the most illustrious careers in Hollywood.

Bruce Willis had been battling symptoms for 5 years
Now, a person close to the Die Hard star had made the revelation that the symptoms of the ailment were prevalent for five years now. In the beginning, it wasn’t anything serious. He just needed to take the help of a hearing aid initially. The friend said, “At first it was nothing big, just little things like he needed help talking using earplugs. Everyone who knew him knew something was wrong, but we didn’t know the exact diagnosis.”
But everyone knew that something was up. He had been braving the effects for five years, until he couldn’t take any longer. The source said, “We knew there was something cognitively wrong, it wasn’t a secret, but that specific diagnosis and the fact that he would no longer be performing was surprising.”
Oh! For a little more time.
