As a part of Phase Four of the MCU, No Way Home received positive responses from critics and the audience upon its release. An extended version of the movie was later released in 2022. Fans have been waiting for the fourth installment in the franchise and now Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has updates.

Kevin Feige shares if Jon Watts returns to direct Spider-Man 4

In his conversation with CinemaBlend, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked if filmmaker Jon Watts would be returning to direct Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4. Feige shared,

We love Jon. Jon did three of the best Spider-Man films ever for us. He’s got lots of things going on now. So we’ll probably be looking for somebody else, just because he’s busy.

Jon Watts is gearing up for his movie Wolfs, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. He is also working on a Star Wars show titled Skeleton Crew. He has directed 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019’s Far From Home, in addition to 2021’s No Way Home. All three movies received positive response from the audience and the critics.

Feige spoke to io9, where he shared details about the script of the upcoming movie and mentioned,

Amy Pascal and I are working on it. We have writers who are going to be delivering us a draft relatively soon.

If we look at the pattern of the movie’s release, the Spider-Man movies have been released within a gap of 2 years, and the upcoming movie is expected to be released sometime in 2026. Very little is known about the fourth installment but hopes are definitely high for it.

Tom Holland mentions that they do not want to overdo the same thing with Spider-Man 4

Actor Tom Holland spoke to Deadline back in April at the Sands International Film Festival, where he was asked about the update on the highly anticipated Spider-Man movie. The actor replied,

The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do Spider-Man films. I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more. We have the best in the business, working towards whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.

Holland mentioned that it’s the first time in the process that he has been involved in the creative process so early, adding that it’s just a process where he is watching and learning. The actor noted that it’s really fun for him to learn and watch, pointing out that everyone wants to make the movie happen, but they want to be sure of not overdoing the same thing.

He also shared that they have been waiting for the scripts, and he is excited to reprise his character. Speaking to Collider last year, the actor mentioned that he feels very protective of the character and feels lucky to be able to portray that web-slinger on-screen. Tom Holland added that he won’t be a part of the movie for the sake of making another one but will say yes when he feels that the wait is worth it.

No Way Home had the second-highest opening ever at the domestic box office. The movie is available to stream on HBO Max.
