“What a dumb thing to do”: Joe Rogan Shocked After Chris Rock Annihilated Will Smith, Calls it Ruthless Retribution for Slapping Veteran Comedian
Chris Rock’s Netflix Special Selective Outrage has become the talk of the town. Launching the comedy special right before the 95th Academy Awards has been considered a brutal move by Rock. Reminding people about the year-old slap gate incident, as a way of seeking closure, seemed like a merciless move to Joe Rogan. The YouTube podcast host recently touched upon Chris Rock’s brutal way of annihilating Smith’s career and called it brutal.
Chris Rock streamed the comedy special on a global platform and created chaos by dividing the audience into two groups. But no matter how well appreciated his comedy was, Joe Rogan still found it to be merciless towards the veteran actor. But hold on, there’s more to the story.
Joe Rogan Considers Chris Rock’s Comedy To Be Ruthless
Throwing light on the recent event of the 95th Academy Awards, Joe Rogan came up with the year-old slap gate incident that happened during the 2022 Oscars. Speaking about the incident, Rogan started discussing Chris Rock’s Netflix Special Selective Outrage. The comedy special received appreciation from the audience as well as some criticism. Even Joe Rogan pointed out the reason for criticism being the utter brutality of the show.
Speaking with Bert Kreischer, Rogan pointed out how Chris Rock held his grudge for a year only to deliver his comedy special right before the 95th Academy Awards. While delivering a fiery performance, Chris Rock purposefully targeted Will Smith and his family to bring out his grudge. Discussing the infamous slap and the aftermath of the incident Rogan stated, “The sh*t about Will Smith was ruthless! Ruthless!”.
The YouTube podcast host went further, “Imagine the thought like, ‘I’m just gonna slap Chris Rock, one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time. It’s not like he’s going to tear my very vulnerable life apart after I smack him, with some of the best comedy that anybody’s ever written.’” While discussing the brutality of Rock’s comedy, Rogan even pointed out Will Smith’s dumbness. “Like what a terrible, unprovoked attack. What a dumb thing to do.” Joe Rogan stated.
Joe Rogan Called Out Will Smith For His Dumb Move
After mentioning Rock’s way of targeting Smith for the infamous slap of Oscar 2022, Joe Rogan even slightly hinted at Will Smith deserving the retribution for his stupidity. While hosting an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, along with Bert Kreischer, the host stated, how Will Smith destroyed his career with his dumb idea of slapping Chris Rock.
Throwing light on Will Smith’s popularity before the incident, “to be that person who’s publicly loved. You know like Will Smith was, until that moment.” Rogan stated Smith’s stupidity was the reason for his end. “Nobody had a bad thing to say about, maybe didn’t like one movie, or thought the superhero movie was dumb or…but everybody loved that guy (Will Smith).” Thus, according to Rogan, he believes, slapping Chris Rock on stage was the worst possible move.
Adding on to Smith’s stupidity in slapping the comedian, Rogan even mentioned the words uttered by Smith that eventually made all the chaos. “But those two, ‘keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth’, those two are what sunk him.” Rogan pointed out. Discussing with Bert Kreischer, the other possibilities, Rogan stated, “if he just slapped Chris Rock and then just sat down and didn’t say anything…they wouldn’t know what to do. It would kind of drift off, and people would forget about it.”
Joe Rogan stated, Will Smith had every possible way of turning the incident into a PR stunt and making the audience believe it was all planned. But uttering words of disrespect and slapping the comedian on Live television, created the entire issue. Rogan considered, it was a dumb move from Will Smith, which was addressed by Chris Rock in the form of a brutally targeted comedy.
