Throwing light on Will Smith’s popularity before the incident, “to be that person who’s publicly loved. You know like Will Smith was, until that moment.” Rogan stated Smith’s stupidity was the reason for his end. “Nobody had a bad thing to say about, maybe didn’t like one movie, or thought the superhero movie was dumb or…but everybody loved that guy (Will Smith).” Thus, according to Rogan, he believes, slapping Chris Rock on stage was the worst possible move.

Adding on to Smith’s stupidity in slapping the comedian, Rogan even mentioned the words uttered by Smith that eventually made all the chaos. “But those two, ‘keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth’, those two are what sunk him.” Rogan pointed out. Discussing with Bert Kreischer, the other possibilities, Rogan stated, “if he just slapped Chris Rock and then just sat down and didn’t say anything…they wouldn’t know what to do. It would kind of drift off, and people would forget about it.

Joe Rogan stated, Will Smith had every possible way of turning the incident into a PR stunt and making the audience believe it was all planned. But uttering words of disrespect and slapping the comedian on Live television, created the entire issue. Rogan considered, it was a dumb move from Will Smith, which was addressed by Chris Rock in the form of a brutally targeted comedy.
