One query from Drake during his It’s All a Blur Tour show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn has changed the life of one of his fans for the better.

In July, a woman tossed her bra at him onstage. The 36-year-old took a note of it, particularly because of the size of the bra, picked it up, and said: “Damn, 36G? Locate this woman immediately!”

From running Café La La coffee shop in Rhode Island to purportedly getting a proposal from Playboy and a DM laced with some advice from Drake himself, life has been a whirlwind for the voluptuous woman in question in recent weeks. Millions now know her full name: Veronica Olivia Correia, all because of that one moment from the God’s Plan singer. Ironically, it won’t be far-fetched to assume that these same fans, and countless others, don’t know Drake’s real name.

Why Drake Avoids Using His Real Name

Drake is the most streamed artist of all time on Spotify, engrossing listeners with hits like One Dance, Hotline Bling, and Rich Flex among others. However, despite his popularity, his real name hardly gets mentioned on the stage or in the media in general.

The Canadian was born Aubrey Drake Graham to English teacher Sandi Graham and Dennis Graham, who was also involved in the music scene by playing drums for Jerry Lee Lewis.

However, Drake, who released his first mixtape in 2006, has used his middle name in all his works and on stage for a large part of his career, if not all. While talking to Bobbi Althoff he shed some light on the decision.

During the chat, Althoff remarked: “You don’t even go by that ’cause it’s such a bad name.” To which the musician replied: “No, that’s not true… [I go by Drake] ’cause it’s shorter. “You know, people with two syllables are way less successful than people with one.”

The middle name ‘Drake’ , which was picked by his dad, who shares a confusing (for lack of a better word) relationship with him, means a lot to the five-time Grammy award winner. He previously reflected: “Drake is me in my everyday life, Drake is who I am and Aubrey is more of a separate, sort of proper individual.”

Meanwhile, on Instagram, Drake rocks the title of “champagnepapi”. There isn’t much explanation for the choice, but the use of the word champagne might be to indicate Drake’s favorite drink as well as give off a vibe of class and elegance. Papi is simply used to refer to a close friend or dude in Spanish.

Names Hold a Very Important Place in Drake’s Life

While it has been suggested Drake’s father was an absentee parent, there’s no doubt that the legendary rapper is a great dad himself.

Rihanna‘s former partner shares five-year-old Adonis Graham with Sophie Brussaux and interestingly dedicated a song in 2018 to confirm his fatherhood.

Drake regularly makes courtside appearances with Graham to catch NBA games and recently showed his love for his son by getting a tattoo of his name on the back of his neck.

The Started From the Bottom singer also has his mother’s first and middle initial (SG) tattooed on his face.
