The Kardashians star’s father, Robert Kardashian, and mother, Kris Jenner, were close friends with O.J. Simpson and his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. Robert Kardashian gained recognition as the defense attorney of the former sportstar after he became the prime suspect in the murder of his ex-wife and her friend.
Kim Kardashian’s Ties With O.J. Simpson
During her interview with David Letterman, Kim Kardashian shared that she grew up calling O.J. Simpson “Uncle O.J.” She also shared that just weeks before Nicole Brown Simpson’s murder, she was on a joint family vacation with O.J. Simpson. Her father, Robert Kardashian, went to the same college as O. J. Simpson.
However, the duo grew up to be close friends after they met on a Tenis court years later. Soon Kris Jenner also joined them and became close friends with Nicole Brown Simpson when she started dating Simpson. So when he was accused of killing his ex-wife in 1994, Kim Kardashian’s father reactivated his license to defend his friend in the case.
O.J. Simpson even stayed at the Kardashian’s house to stay away from the media. The socialite also shared that Johnnie Cochran, Robert Shapiro, and Simpson’s defense team had meetings at her father’s house. Not just the SKIMS founder, the youngest Kardashian also has some vague memories of O.J. Simpson.
Kim Kardashian Recalls The O.J. Simpson Murder Trial
Kim Kardashian usually avoids talking about the O.J. Simpson murder case. However, as she sat down with David Letterman on his chat show, the socialite opened up about the case affected her family. As both of her parents were good friends with O.J. Simpson and his wife, they also seemed divided over the case.
While her mother wanted justice for her best friend, her father was busy defending her alleged killer. She shared that her mother was always vocal about her opinion. However, every time she and her sisters visited their father’s house, “it was a whole other situation there.”
Not just Kim Kardashian but her sister, Khloe Kardashian, also shared how people “hated” them because their father was defending O.J. Simpson. Simpson reportedly crashed in her room before the Bronco chase.
Kim Kardashian also shared that her father used to take her and her elder sister Kourtney Kardashian to trial, and their mother was furious every time she saw them sitting behind O.J. Simpson in court.
