Taylor Swift has always been in the spotlight whether it’s about her songs or other related aspects of her life. However, this recent headline isn’t about the pop sensation’s songs or a veiled jab at her ex-boyfriend, but about a college student who has been warned by the singer’s legal team to stop tracking details of every flight she takes.

A 21-year-old college student Jack Sweeney received a cease and desist from Taylor Swift, as he kept on tracking and revealing the singer’s jet movements, exposing her CO2 emissions. However, what’s intriguing to note, is the details are public records that Jack keeps on tracking, and on top of that, fans seem to have dismissed this legal action considering it baseless.

As Taylor Swift said she’s never out of style, the You Belong With Me hitmaker may have forgotten to include that she’s always in the limelight as well. In last year’s December, Swift’s attorney warned a college student Jack Sweeney to stop disclosing the singer’s jet movement and post about her CO2 emissions, otherwise, he might face legal consequences. However, the lad extracts information from the public records, and considering that, fans have disagreed with the cease-and-desist letter sent to the student.

However, this isn’t the first time Jack Sweeney posted about a renowned figure, as he previously tracked the jet movements of billionaire Elon Musk, Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon owner Jeff Bezos, and even Bill Gates. Since tracking jet information is public, anyone can easily perform it. According to reports, Jack is majoring in IT and runs about 30 bot accounts to trace the whereabouts of the wealthy and globally renowned elites.

According to The Washington Post, Sweeney’s accounts are “direct and irreparable harm, as well as emotional and physical distress”. He also shared the letter issued by Taylor Swift’s attorney, which reads:

“While this may be a game to you, or an avenue that you hope will earn you wealth or fame, it is a life-or-death matter for our Client.”

Not to ignore that Taylor Swift is one of the favorites of stalkers, and since she rose to stardom: from an early age, the billionaire singer has faced many of them. The boy further explained that he only posts public information and Taylor Swift’s team thinks “they can control the world”. According to Sweeney, he believes that the letter is just to scare him away.

Last year, Yard crowned Taylor Swift as the biggest celebrity CO2 polluter, based on an analysis of private plane flights tracked by the automated flight tracker Celebrity Jets. It was revealed that the Look What You Made Me Do singer has taken around 170 flights since January, releasing most of the carbon footprint.

However, following the analysis, Taylor Swift’s spokesperson claimed that the data wasn’t accurate and that it was flawed due to loaning her jets to others. According to Rolling Stone, the representative said:

“Taylor’s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.”

This came soon after Kylie Jenner was mocked for flaunting her and Travis Scott‘s (now ex-boyfriend) matching jets. The beauty mogul was labeled a ‘climate criminal’ last year and for its redemption, Taylor Swift’s carbon footprints came into the limelight.

Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department releases on April 19.
