The Marvel Universe has a lot of potential for exploring untapped characters and storylines. While some were mentioned in passing, other characters have been integral to the MCU but have not received adequate attention like Don Cheadle’s War Machine. He played a crucial role in saving Iron Man as well as bringing Thanos to justice.

Fans have often rallied for the actor and the comic book character he plays to get their due credit. Marvel came close to fulfilling these wishes but dropped the ball in the middle. A project titled Armor Wars was announced featuring Cheadle’s War Machine, but there has been seemingly no progress on the same.

Originally announced as a series on Disney+, Armor Wars was later turned into a movie slated for theatrical release. James Rhodey aka War Machine was supposed to headline the project and delve into the inner politics of the state as well as possible villains who could steal Stark tech. The switch from a series to a movie was announced back in 2022, but no other update has been shared since then.

However, when Don Cheadle recently appeared on the Today Show, he was asked about the progress of the Armor Wars project. To that he replied,

What’s Armor Wars? Listen, it’s the line. I could tell you, but I’d have to kill you. And I just met you guys. I don’t wanna do that.

Seems like Cheadle is staying mum on the progress of the flick and keeping all the details very close to himself. Not just Cheadle, even Marvel has not yet revealed any further details that could give us an insight into the plot or the direction of the movie. Yassir Lester is set to pen the script but no director has been announced yet.

What could Armor Wars be About?

Going by the title of the movie, it seems like Armor Wars will take inspiration from the comic book series of the same name that begs the possibility of events where Tony Stark’s tech reaches the hands of some bad people. The comic book was published between 1987-88 and was written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton with art by Mark Bright.

When Armor Wars was set to be a series, it was to showcase various types of armor built by Stark Industries and a few well-known villains who could wreak havoc if they captured the advanced tech. With a feature film structure now, the plot and the surrounding details of Armor Wars remain a mystery.
