James Gunn Announces The Cast Of Superman: Legacy
The Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn has already found the perfect faces for Clark Kent and Lois Lane. The new faces would be taking over DCEU’s Henry Cavill and Amy Adam’s Lois Lane. After a series of robust auditions and multiple screen tests, 29-year-old actor David Corenswet is the new face of the superhero from planet Krypton in the upcoming movie Superman: Legacy. The actor is known for his role in the horror movie Pearl and the Netflix drama The Politician.
David Corenswet is a huge fan of Superman. During an interview with the media outlet Entertainment Weekly in 2019, the actor said-
“Superman is an amazing character, a classic American character. He’s been done right and he’s been done wrong. It’s time for another right one. Little did he know that the next (hopefully, right) one would be starring him. The cool thing about Superman is the thing that everybody says is the problem with the character, which is that he’s invincible. That’s the most interesting thing about him. What a difficult position for a person to be in. There’s so much to be mined there, and deal with the drama that’s inherent in somebody who doesn’t have any problems and can’t die.”
He is fully aware of his striking resemblance with the British actor, Henry Cavill. He even pointed out-
“I am officially not taking a position. I think that’s the way to go. But it has come to my attention. It actually came to my attention before the internet got a hold of me, and my sort of pie-in-the-sky ambition is definitely to play Superman.”
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actor would be playing the role of Lois Lane in Jame Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. The Emmy award-winning actor would be seen alongside David Corenswet. The House Of Cards actor has already proved her acting prowess in one of the most widely-watched series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
During an interview with the reputed media house, Variety James Gunn revealed about the characteristics he wanted in his Superman. He paid more attention to the importance of having someone who could incorporate the humanity, kindness, and compassion of the superhero. David Corenswet impressed the entire casting team with his acting ability. The perfect chemistry between David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan was like the icing on the cake.
What Is The Future Of James Gunn Led DCU?
With the announcement of the new faces for the upcoming movie Superman: Legacy, James Gunn’s focus has been diverted toward finding a perfect face for other roles in the upcoming movie franchise. According to the rumors, Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen are next on the list. Further announcements with respect to the addition of new faces in the franchise are expected in the coming days as the auditions and screen tests are continuously going on in the DCU. After announcing the name of the actor playing Superman and Lois Lane in his upcoming movie. James Gunn tweeted on Twitter-
