“Who knows where it ended up”: Jennifer Garner Regrets Tossing The Iconic Dress From Mark Ruffalo’s Movie To A Warehouse
One of the most well-known films ever made is 13 Going on 30 with Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, and Judy Greer. Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith wrote it, and Gary Winick directed it. The 2004 film was highly welcomed at the box office and earned mostly favorable reviews from reviewers, with particular praise for Garner’s portrayal.
The movie, according to sources, managed to gross over $22 million in its first week and became the greatest-selling DVD rental title at the time. It was hailed for its funny plot and message of self-empowerment. The movie’s premise received accolades, but viewers specifically mentioned the gorgeous costumes Jennifer Garner wore.
Jennifer Garner recalls the iconic green Versace dress
During an interview with Glamour, ahead of the release of her The Last Thing He Told Me on AppleTV+, Jennifer Garner spoke about her well-talked-about looks of all the time and her 13 Going on 30’s iconic green dress was, of course, a part of it. She revealed that it was the first movie she did with Susie DeSanto and they have been collaborators since 2004.
Talking about the designer, Garner said, “She has such a beautiful sense of character, of color, of fun, of fashion and she brought all of that into play on 13 Going on 30. Anything I could have dreamed, she dreamed bigger. And anything that I could have wanted, she had that plus 10 better options in every fitting. So we just had a blast together. Susie had a lot of fun in the early scenes with the eighties styles and looks and clothes and hair and makeup.”
The actress noted that DeSanto was mostly drawing inspiration for Jenna’s wardrobe from her closet and it was a real playful take and sophisticated palette. Talking about the green dress, Garner went on to state,
“Susie and I cannot believe how much this dress keeps coming up and how on Halloween every year, there are more Jenna Rinks instead of fewer. And I just had dinner with Judy Greer who played my frenemy and we were talking about how, 13 Going on 30, is just even more embraced than it was all of those years ago.”
The actress further added, “I think because all of the kids who were 13 when it came out are turning 30 and they are just so sweet about the movie, it holds such nostalgia for them and we are so grateful and happy. But here’s a crazy fact, this dress, I didn’t keep it, it didn’t go anywhere, it just went into a warehouse. Who knows where it ended up but, sadly, I don’t have it.”

Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo’s friendship fell apart due to Ben Affleck
Fans loved the chemistry between Garner and the Marvel actor Mark Ruffalo and even though the duo had a blast while filming the movie, their friendship did not sustain the test of time.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Ruffalo appeared and was asked about his status of friendship with Garner and he revealed that the two of them did not see each other much after 2004. He said,
“We had a great time together, and I think we would, but then Ben [Affleck] came on the scene and that was the end of that.”
Neither Ben Affleck nor Jennifer Garner ever commented on the statement by Ruffalo, but the two of them recently worked together on The Adam Project as parents to the lead characters Walker Scobell and Ryan Reynolds. So it’s okay to say that they made it through.
Jennifer Garner says 13 Going on 30 is the ‘happiest’ part of her life
The actress, who is adored by millions and was highly appreciated for her role as Jenna in the movie, shared during an interview with PopSugar that the 2004 movie was the happiest part of her life. The actress said,
“Something has happened when all the kids who were 13 are now 30. All of you guys have put the movie back in the zeitgeist, and it’s so sweet to us.” She further said that while having dinner with her co-star and friend Judy Greer, they acknowledged that the movie has grown in the past few years and when people saw them together, they have a reaction.
Garner added, “It’s one of the happiest things in our lives to be part of that movie together.” Over the years, the movie has maintained its charm and is one of the most loved movies of all time.
