Jackman’s potential as an actor was noticed when he played Wolverine, as the character did not have much dialogue, but a lot of emotion to convey. The actor mentioned that he watched Clint Eastwood and Mel Gibson to understand how emotions are used to convey what the character wants to say. The actor appeared in Shawn Levy’s 2011 Real Steel and shared an incident that made his son question them as a family.

Actor Hugh Jackman played Charlie Kenton in Shawn Levy’s science fiction sports drama Real Steel in 2011. The movie is based on a short story titled Steel by Richard Matheson, which was originally published in the May 1956 edition of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction.

Jackman played a former boxer whose sport is now played with robots so he must build and train his robot with his son. The movie, upon its release, received mixed reviews from critics and the audience but was nominated at the 84th Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects.

Ahead of the release of the movie, the actor spoke to This Morning’s Alison Hammond and shared an incident where he admits that his son was not very happy. He shared while describing a stunt scene,

So, I get on the thing and ask them who stops me, and they go you. They said just pull on that brake thing, and I was like, I do the braking, and he goes, Yeah, you’ll be all right. He told me to just remember that the faster you go, the better the brake works. I got a little carried away. I think my kids have never gone to anything like that, but they both asked to go, and I said okay, and they were watching as I went careering in blood, and apparently, my son turned to my wife and said, ‘Why can’t we be a normal family?’

In an interview with Collider at the time, Hugh Jackman was asked about the robots, whom he described as unbelievable. He went on to describe that Shawn Levy brilliantly created a world that is very real, gritty, and timeless with robots. He admitted that he knows kids who are going to watch the movie will be upset when they learn that whatever is shown in the movie is not real.

Jackman couldn’t stop gushing about the robots and said his jaw dropped when he saw them.

Hugh Jackman suggested Tom Hardy as Wolverine’s successor

Henry Cavill surprised the audience when he appeared as a variant of Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine. But back in 2015, Hugh Jackman had suggested that Venom actor Tom Hardy could be a great successor for Wolverine. During an interview with MTV UK, Jackman had admitted,

I haven’t really given it a lot of thought. I’ve been asked that question a lot, and I’m always like, ‘I don’t want to make it too easy on the studio to replace me, you know! I’ve still got one more to do. He’s younger than me for sure—I think Tom Hardy would be a great Wolverine.

Hardy plays Eddie Brock in Sony Pictures’ Venom movies, and his roster has a list of gritty and tough roles, which makes him a perfect choice to play Wolverine. Hardy is all set to return with Venom: The Last Dance, and it’s not confirmed if he’s going to return to play the character in other projects or crossover into the MCU.

But for now, it is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Deadpool & Wolverine saw Jackman return to play the character after seven years, and fans couldn’t keep their excitement to themselves to finally watch their favorite superhero back on-screen. The movie is officially a critical and commercial success, being the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time.

Deadpool & Wolverine is playing in cinemas.
