Ed Sheeran is opening up about his personal and professional life for the April cover story of Rolling Stone. Sheeran is one of those musicians who, in general, does not discuss much about his personal life in the media, but in this candid interview, the I Don’t Care, singer, leaves no stone unturned, revealing how, while he was at the pinnacle of his fame, he struggled with terrible body image issues.

The singer shared,

“There’s certain things that, as a man talking about them, I feel mad uncomfortable. I know people are going to see it a type of way, but it’s good to be honest about them because so many people do the same thing and hide it as well.”

The singer further talks about his eating disorder and struggle to maintain a good physique. He said,

“I’m self-conscious anyway, but you get into an industry where you’re getting compared to every other pop star. I was in the One Direction wave, and I’m like, well, why don’t I have a six pack?’ And I was like, Oh, because you love kebabs and drink beer. Then you do songs with Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes all these people have fantastic figures. And I was always like, well, why am I so … fat?”

Ed Sheeran is without a doubt a gifted singer in the entertainment world, and his recent revelations are surprising and painful. The musician is currently working on his album.

The singer also discloses that a slew of misfortunes and tragedies befell him, including the diagnosis of his wife, Cherry Seaborn as they found she had a tumor, the loss of his close friend, Jamal Edwards, and the stress of battling a copyright infringement lawsuit.

Sheeran shares,

“And I don’t think anyone thought that I knew the rumor. But I get it, man. I lived in his room. Like, I get why people would think that. We used to go on holidays together. My best friend died and he shouldn’t have died. I’ve always had real lows in my life… but it wasn’t really till last year that I actually addressed it.”

Ed Sheeran revealed that he has struggled with depression his entire life, and that the feelings resurfaced last year after his best friend Jamal Edward died last year due to heart attack after taking cocaine and drinking alcohol.
