Why Fans Are Asking for Kevin Hart Oscars Boycott After His 2019 Debacle
Kevin Hart is one of the most popular comedians in America. The comedian has a huge fan following that loves his stand-up comedy. Moreover, the comedian is also highly demanded to play comedic roles in films. The actor also starred in Netflix’s drama, True Story. Kevin’s latest film, The Man from Toronto, is expected to release on Netflix on June 24th. The film includes actors such as Woody Harrelson, Kaley Cuoco and Pierson Fode and is directed by Patrick Hughes. Despite his popularity, the comedian hasn’t had an unproblematic past.
Kevin Hart’s problematic past with homophobic statements
In 2019, Kevin Hart was highly criticized by the public as well as the media for his homophobic statements. Some of his comments were from Twitter, whereas others were from his stand-up special Seriously Funny. In the special, Kevin stated that one of his biggest worries was that of his son being gay. The comedian also tweeted something similar,
“Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice ‘stop that’s gay.”
Another one of his tweets said,
“Why does (Damien Dante Wayans’) profile pic look like a gay bill board for AIDS.”
Kevin Hart stepped down as Oscars Host in 2019
These problematic statements did not bode well with the fans, and ultimately, Kevin had to step down as the 2019 Oscars host. In a statement on Twitter, Kevin wrote,
“I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.

Okay. The problem with the trailer for The Man from Toronto is that no one actually pronounces Toronto properly.
