One of the most popular Netflix television series is Stranger Things. Since its debut in 2016, the show has aired a total of 4 seasons.
Nevertheless, the actor played a gay character in the Netflix series since he was seen having romantic feelings for Mike Wheeler, one of the main characters. Noah Schnapp Opens Up About His Sexuality to Fans and Family
Despite portraying a gay character, Noah Schnapp eventually had the guts to come out as who he was.
The Tutor star took the attention of many fans after he posted a TikTok post of himself for where first time, it was a post that was not about his movie, or something but infact it was about his sexuality this time. Schnapp was seen lying down in the bed where he was seen sharing,
“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘We know’.”
With this statement, the star just announced the start of a new chapter in his life. He also revealed that he dared to address his family. He was shocked when he found out later that his family was already aware of his sexual orientation at this point.
He disclosed that on January 5th, as he and his family were dropping off his sister Cloe at a College located in Boston. He took the opportunity to tell his parents about his 18-years kept secret.
Noah Schnapp Admits Being Afraid to Share His Sexuality
While discussing about revealing his sexuality, the Bridge of Spies star also admitted that he has always been hesitant to open up about his orientation.
“I think it made me hold it down deeper because it was kind of being poked and prodded out of me in such a public way.”
However, after his best-kept secrets were ultimately made public, the star did receive a response from his fans.
When the star began receiving a lot of love from the fans, his worst fear transformed into a great support, the star shared:
“There was not one bad thing about him being gay. I was like, if he has all this support, then why should I worry about anything?”
He even stated that if his gay character was getting so much support from the audience, why couldn’t he? And when he disclosed his fan’s response, it turned out to be real.
Noah Schnapp Credits Stranger Things for Helping Him Find Courage to Identify His Sexuality
The Waiting for Anya actor revealed that he was gay in real life in addition to his part in the television series while speaking with Variety. In his interview, the celebrity shared,
“Once I did fully embrace that Will was gay, it was just an exponential speed towards accepting it for myself.”
“I would be in a completely different place if I didn’t have Will to portray, and to embrace and help me accept myself. I think if I never played that character, I probably would still be closeted.”
The 18-year-old Abe actor revealed that playing a gay character in the Netflix series Stranger Things helped him to understand his sexual orientation.
There will be a new season of the series, according to the executive producers and directors of the program, Duff Brothers.
