Why We Need a Kenneth Branagh Hercule Poirot Universe
Kenneth Branagh became a part of Agatha Christie’s mysterious universe when he debuted in Murder on the Orient Express. Agatha Christie created her literary universe back in 1936 with her novel Cards on the Table, where four of her famous detectives were invited to one dinner party where the eccentric host was murdered. Years later, Branagh appeared in the successful film Death on the Nile.
Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot Has Solid Grounds To Create His Universe
Kenneth Branagh‘s Poirot has an incredible opportunity to carry on Agatha Christie’s literary universe in the 1930s to cinematic universe trend. Copying Marvel’s success, cinematic universes are the most recent and ongoing trend in Hollywood. One such golden opportunity for a blockbuster cinematic universe served on a silver platter to Hollywood to cash in on the novels of Agatha Christie and Kenneth Branagh’s adaptations of them.
Apart from Kenneth Branagh as detective Hercule Poirot, the other detectives who appeared in Cards on the Table were Superintendent Battle, the detective from Christie’s Seven Dials Mysteries, Colonel Race, who appeared in The ABC Murders and Man in the Brown Suit, and Ariadne Oliver, a mystery novel writer who debuted in Cards on the Table itself. Despite the pending on-screen debut of the other detectives, there clearly exists potential for a crossover universe.
