“Will Look Like a Piece of Cake”: The Boys Star Reveals Third Season Makes Whale Scene Looks Easy
For years, the superhero genre has dominated the entertainment business, yet a few ventures have managed to turn it on its head. The Boys, an Amazon live-action series, has done exactly that, depicting the genuine anarchy that would ensue if superpowered beings existed. This series is a more adult and bawdy take on the superhero genre, involving more sex, violence, and profanity than is normally the case. It is based on the comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
The Boys revolves around Vought Industries, a corrupt company responsible for manufacturing its own brand of superheroes, sometimes known as “supes.” Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban, is the head of The Boys, an organization whose members have a personal vengeance against Vought Industries and want to bring it down once and for all. And now that Karen Fukuhara has confirmed that Season 3 will surpass Season 2’s gory whale scene, we can’t wait to witness it.
The Boys 3 will make the Whale Scene look like a piece of cake
Fukuhara hinted at the events of season 3 in a recent interview with EW for its new cover story, doubting if it would even make it to air in its intended form. She also expressed her surprise at having generated such emotional sequences.
“[Season 3] will make that whole whale sequence look like a piece of cake. It’s not just about the crazy action scenes [or] the social commentary, [but also] the depths of the characters, and the darkness that some of them go through. I don’t know how we did it, but hopefully, it’s allowed to air.”
To add to Fukuhara’s remarks, Jack Quaid, her co-star, told EW that Season 3 of The Boys is “the most insane season of TV ever filmed.” In The Boys, Fukuhara plays Kimiko, also known as The Female, a highly competent assassin whose character has been through a variety of emotional and gruesome events in about equal measure. Most of The Boys season 3’s mysteries will be kept under wraps until June. Karl Urban recently disclosed that the makeup crew ran out of fake blood during the production of episode 3. It hints at a very bloody season ahead.
The Boys’ whale scene drew a lot of attention on social media when it appeared, with many people being startled, appalled, and very entertained by it. Fukuhara’s views are undoubtedly fascinating. Season 3 of The Boys is expected to push the limits of what has come before. While most of what lies ahead remains a secret, it’s safe to assume that when The Boys season 3 premieres on June 3, fans may not be prepared.
