Relationships in Hollywood have always been a subject that has interested both fans and the media. Every high and low in a relationship is under notice these days, and things even get controversial if divorces or separations are included. One such high-profile couple has been Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
The Man in Black actor has been a household name for years, which makes his life more available to the public. His marriage with Jada has been a topic of discussion due to their decision to talk about their personal stuff in public. And once again, reports are surfacing that Jada is not happy with Will.
Jada Pinkett Smith Is Not Happy With Will Smith and Johnny Depp’s Friendship
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith got married in 1997, and their relationship has been anything but conventional. They have been very open about their struggles and unique approaches to marriage and have faced rumors of an open marriage for years.
However, they have managed to maintain a united image so far in front of the public. But recent reports suggest that all is not well between them. It seems like Will has been spending a lot of time with his good friend Johnny Depp lately, and Jada is not happy about it. An insider said to In Touch,
For Jada, it’s pretty upsetting because she feels as though he’s running off living a single life and rubbing it in her face. You’d think she’d be okay with it, considering how she’s been pushing for these separate lives, but when it’s her being made to look weak she flies off the handle and gets very jealous.
Smith and Depp were recently seen enjoying themselves together on a yacht for Andrea Bocelli’s event in Italy. According to the source, Jada doesn’t want Will to spend too much time with Depp because “Johnny’s pals fear his partying is once again catching up to him.”
Depp had gone through a tough phase in his life with Amber Heard‘s public legal battle and its aftermath. Similarly, Smith is also trying to return strong after his infamous Oscar slap incident. According to the insider, Depp is looking to help him with this.
He’s been promising to fix him up with some great summer parties and trips to Europe and introducing him to a whole new set of friends.
Will is even thinking of bringing his Bad Boys buddy Martin Lawrence along with them. He has been enjoying boys’ nights out and joining Depp’s band concerts. This newfound bromance is not going according to Jada’s wish.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith Have Been Living Separate Lives
Although Jada and Will have not legally divorced, they have actually been separated since 2016. During an interview on The Today Show to promote her memoir Worthy, Jada shared,
By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.
When she was asked why it took so long to disclose it publicly, Jada said that they “weren’t ready” as they were “still trying to figure out, between the two of us, how to be in partnership.” She also mentioned making a promise that there would “never be a reason” for them to get divorced.
Interestingly, when Will’s infamous Oscar slap incident happened, it was a bit surprising for another reason too. The world heard Will saying to Chris Rock not to take his “wife’s” name ever. But in an NBC News primetime special, Jada revealed,
First of all, I’m really shocked, because mind you, I’m not there. We haven’t called each other husband and wife in a long time.
Their marriage gets much more complicated when Jada’s past relationship with August Alsina comes into play. In 2020, Alsina claimed that he was in a relationship with Jada. She later confirmed that on her show Red Table Talk. Jada said it was an “entanglement” that happened while she and Will were separated.
However, despite all these, Will seems to maintain a positive outlook on their relationship. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, he called Jada “one of the most gangsta ride-or-dies I’ve ever had.” Seems like they are determined to stick together even with their unconventional arrangement, for better or worse.
