Worst Movie Sequels Ever, Ranked
Have you ever watched a movie sequel and felt like damn! That put a great franchise To shame! I mean why? Did anybody really ask for another Mask film? Don’t even get me started on Mean Girls part 2!
After watching these worst movie sequels out there, most fans wish no one ever made them. On that note, here is a list of movie sequels that were absolutely abysmal and should have never happened in the first place. Let’s take a look.
The Hangover Part 3
Fans love the hilarious charm Alan had in the previous parts of the hangover movies. However, in part 3 released in 2013, he seemed to have lost the humor that was once the heart and soul of the franchise. The characters kept revolving in the same purgatory. The franchise lost its uniqueness when the same kind of incidents kept happening to the characters time and again.
Highlander 2
Highlander had it all perfectly together whether it was an excellent cast, a brilliant soundtrack, or a unique plotline. While fans enjoyed the classic immortal duels, the filmmakers screwed up highlander 2. Viewers didn’t like the alien sorcerer storyline. No wonder the audience still considers it as one of the worst movie sequels ever.
Son Of The Mask
Fans love the cartoonist entertainment of the original Mask movie. But Son Of The Mask overdid it with the special effects. Despite Jamie Kennedy’s brilliant performance, the movie’s lazy plots didn’t go well with fans. Not to mention, Jim Carrey set sky High expectations for the audience in the first part. Anything less than that was expected to be a flop.
Most movie sequels get on the bad books of fans because of lost uniqueness. However, the basic plot of Son Of The Mask was quite similar to its first movie. However, the lack of similarities caused this movie to be a failure. Richard Roper, a film critic stated that he wanted to walk out of the theatre halfway through the movie due to the bad jokes.
Cars 2
Pixar did an outstanding job with Cars considering what an enjoyable movie it was. The characters were likable, the themes were relatable and the setting was pretty interesting. All in all, the movie was entertaining for fans. However, in Cars 2, the entire focus was on Mater. Even though he became McQueen’s close friend, he was nothing more than a side character. It missed a genuine connection to the first movie and all Cars 2 turned out to be was a Spy film with a side character at the center.
Mean Girls 2
Mean Girls 2 is a cruel-spirited derivative of the original Mean Girls in the early 2000s. The original one was a beloved endeavor and living up to its expectations was way too risky. There was nothing original in Mean Girls 2 and it was yet another story of a new student caught up in the ruling party girly politics.
