Xolo Maridueña, the first Latino superhero, who stars as DC’s Blue Beetle in the namesake movie has been making headlines by the dozens recently. For someone who only acted to pay his college fees, Maridueña has come a long way from being a child actor in the NBC series Parenthood.

It is a known fact that actors have to go through many uncomfortable and awkward things to play certain characters. Sometimes these things are character traits that the actors have to adopt, other times it’s prosthetics or suits that they have to adapt to wearing on a daily basis at the set. Given Xolo Maridueña now has superhero status, he obviously had to adapt to a suit.

Xolo Maridueña Opened Up About His Suit

Xolo Maridueña‘s experience with his electric blue colored suit wasn’t much different from that of other MCU or DC superhero actors who have previously donned suits. He can relate to them in the matter that wearing these suits fixes their body posture making them more superhero-like.

The Cobra Kai actor is pretty content with his suit and he expressed as much in an interview with Variety in which he said:

“This is not like getting ready for school in the morning. I could feel the suit hugging me. I could feel the pinchers on my sides. Honestly, it’s pretty comfortable. I hear that they only get better as the years go on — more easily accessible to go to the bathroom.”

Although the actor had to undergo some serious transformation to be able to don the suit, he doesn’t despise it one bit, unlike many other actors who often complained that the suits were too uncomfortable for their liking or gave them serious trouble on the set.

Christian Bale Had a Hard Time with His Batman Suit

Former Batman actor Christian Bale cannot relate to Maridueña who seems to be enjoying wearing the suit. Typically, actors don’t like the suits they are put into because of how unrealistically heavy these suits are. Emily Blunt, one of the most versatile actors, also had a breakdown when she put on her suit in Edge of Tomorrow.

Christian Bale’s Batman suit was so tight that his claustrophobia would get triggered every time he wore it. He was convinced that he should be recast. However, just like Batman overcame his fear of bats, Christian Bale eventually managed to overcome the discomfort he felt while wearing his suit.

Later, Bale said that he wore the suit as much as could to ease his movements in the suit so that they looked smooth in the scenes they would eventually shoot. The suit would often cause headaches and sour Bale’s mood but the American Psycho actor refused back down and hence, channeled all his discomfort into playing the character well.
