Yellowstone has literally catapulted the lead actors to star status. While some like Kevin Costner were already held in high regard in Hollywood, others like Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, and Kelly Reilly not so much. However, this neo-Western show has changed that as these actors now have a newfound status in the industry.

These actors have starred in some pretty popular movies at one point in their careers. Luke Grimes is no exception. In fact, he played a supporting character in a billion-dollar franchise and one might just be shocked when they learn which franchise this happens to be.

Luke Grimes began his professional acting career in 2009 with the movie, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane. He went on to star in movies and shows like War Eagle, Arkansas, and Brothers & Sisters. Over the years, he has also worked with some of the most popular stars like Liam Neeson (Taken 2), Bradley Cooper (American Sniper), and Denzel Washington (The Magnificent Seven).

However, the most surprising of all is probably the fact that he was a part of the Fifty Shades film series. He played the role of Christian Grey’s (Jamie Dornan) older brother, Elliot Grey in all three movies of the series. Elliot was one of the three adopted children of Carrick (Andrew Airlie) and Dr Grace Trevelyan-Grey (Marcia Gay Harden), and the love interest of Anastasia Steele’s (Dakota Johnson) friend, Kate Kavanagh (Eloise Mumford).

Grimes’ Elliot was introduced in Fifty Shades of Grey when he accompanies his brother Christian to pick up a drunk Anastasia from a bar in Portland. This is also the first time he meets Kate, and the two begin dating soon after. By the end of the film franchise, Elliot and Kate get married.

For those uninitiated, the Fifty Shades film trilogy is based on E. L. James’ book series of the same name. The movies earned international recognition due to the famed status of the books. When the first movie was released, it received mixed to negative reviews but turned out to be a box-office success with a worldwide gross of $569.6 million on a budget of $40 million (via Box Office Mojo).

The next two movies, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed were just as critically panned. While both these movies were commercial successes, they earned less than the first movie. In fact, the box office collection of the last of these was less than both of its predecessors.

Luke Grimes has been playing the character of Kayce Dutton, the youngest son of John Dutton III (Kevin Costner) for the past six years and the show is finally about to come to an end soon. Now, that the release of the finale episode is on the horizon, Grimes has opened up to TVLine about what it was like to read the script.

I mean, it’s the end — the end-end. I had no idea how the show was going to [wrap up], and I wanted to save reading that episode for the very last second. I was a mess. It’s beautiful. It’s profound. It’s heartbreaking. They [Fans] won’t feel like they’ve wasted their time for the past six years.

This episode is probably going to be the goodbye to Jamie who is suspected to be the murderer of the Dutton family patriarch. While Kayce is working hard to find out the murderer of his father, Beth is sure that it is their adopted brother, Jamie.

Yellowstone is available for streaming on Peacock.
