“You are not that kind of girl… B*tch!”: Most Unhinged ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Fight Still Remains Unbeatable After 16 Years
- RuPaul's Drag Race is one of the most iconic TV shows and the fights are part of the reason why.
- The fight between Shangela and Mimi Imfurst in Season 3 remains unbeatable.
- Acacia Forgot seems to have no hard feelings towards past queens who criticized her.
RuPaul’s Drag Race is one of the most iconic TV shows ever and the fights between the queens are perhaps one of the many things that make it so entertaining. Talking of fights, it is almost impossible to beat that one fight from over 16 years ago.
This fight happened in Season 3 of the show and if you are thinking of the one between Shangela and Mimi Imfurst, then you are absolutely right. To this day, it remains one of the memorable fights, and with Season 17 of the show having kicked off recently, it is only fair to look back at it.
Mimi Imfurst and Shangels’s fight in RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3 remains unbeatable even after all these years
RuPaul’s Drag Race is the biggest and oldest reality competition TV series. It documents drag queen RuPaul’s search for America’s ‘Next Drag Superstar’. The winner also takes home a cash prize of $200,000. Not to mention the huge exposure that the show gives to the contestants. The series started in 2009 and has since spawned several spin-off shows.
The third season of the show was aired in 2011 and 13 drag queens competed for the crown. Mimi Imfurst was also one of them. It was her first run on the show and her brash personality obviously rubbed people in the wrong way. Consequently, by episode 3, they seemed to have had enough and took their turns to have a read on her during Untucked.
Following the Queens From Outer Space challenge, a fight erupted where everyone else seemed to be on one side and Imfurst on the other (via RuPaul’s Drag Race on YouTube). To make matters worse, she made the fateful mistake of accusing Shangela of having a sugar daddy pay for her looks. The consequence? A monologue from Shangela which goes:
I don’t have a sugar daddy. I’ve never had a sugar daddy. If I wanted a sugar daddy, yes, I could probably go out and get one, because I am what? Sickening! You could never have a sugar daddy, because you are not-that-kind-of-girl! B*tch!
The monologue was followed by Shangela throwing her drink on Imfurst while the other queens watched the chaos unfold. It has since gained the reputation of one of the most meme-worthy fights, and many fans can recite the entire monologue on cue.
Acacia Forgot has a positive reaction towards Bob the Drag Queen and Monét X Change’s shade about her
Acacia Forgot, one of the 17 contestants of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17, is a music therapy major from Los Angeles. These days, she has taken to performing live on stage instead of working as a professional therapist and aims to win the crown.
In her Meet the Queens video, she claimed that a live-singing drag queen should win the competition. This led past winners Bob the Drag Queen and Monét X Change to criticize her as they pointed out that contestants like Jinkx Monsoon and Trixie Mattel who won the crown are singers.
However, they did not stop there and played a video of Forgot’s music during a December episode of Sibling Watchery which made Bob laugh. When asked about it in EW‘s group interview, Forgot said:
We don’t have to talk about it! [laughs] I did hear about that. They laughed at my face. Girl, she listened to my music and she started laughing.
Then, she said that it was her old music and she herself was not a fan of it. She also encouraged the audience to watch her new music, which she claims, is more like her.
