Matt Mannix, an arrested Timothée Chalamet lookalike, says everything is surreal’
One of the most astonishing events held in recent times was the Timothée Chalamet Look-alike Content at Washington Square Park in New York City on October 27, 2024. YouTuber Anthony Po organized the event, and just like thousands of people who showed up, 24-year-old Manhattan resident Matt Mannix also atteneded. However, a video that went viral recently showcased Mannix being detained by the New York Police Department.
Mannix, in speaking to Teen Vogue, shared that everything that happened in the last 24 hours seems surreal to him. He added his own mother had found out about his arrest online. It was reported that NYPD had responded to an unscheduled demonstration in Washington Square Park, which is known to be one of the hot spots for university students. Four people were arrested from the event and were released with a summons.
The charges on these Timothée Chalamet lookalike men were not specified. Mannix shared that he received four individual summons: two charges of failure to comply with directions from park staff, police officers, or park signs, disorderly conduct, and trespassing. Upon asking if he had any interest in entering the contest, he said,
The young Chalamet look-alike noted that the event was chaotic, and after a cop arrested him without a warning, Mannix kept asking the cop if he was being detained. Mannix added that the cops didn’t answer him directly but kept saying that he failed to disperse, but he didn’t understand what he needed to disperse from.
Matt Mannix was asked about his plans now that he’s gained fame; he says that he does not know, but he saw some person working with HBO asking to book him for a casting. He added that he feels like everything’s just going at a million miles per hour and does not even know what the hell to think.

However, Miles Mitchell, who wore Willy Wonka, took home the coveted cash prize of $50 and the trophy. He added that he’s going to wear the Willy Wonka outfit for Halloween as well. The event organizers were fined $500 for hosting the event but Po said it’s the price of culture.
