Joker has to be one of the iconic films of 2019. The film is based on the iconic comic hero character Joker, a Batman villain, starring Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role. It was a masterpiece by Warner Bros. Pictures. The 48-year-old won an Oscar for his performance in the film, and he deserved it.

Phoenix’s co-star of Joker, Bryan Callen, appeared on The Joe Rogan podcast. During his chat with the host, the Comedian shared working with the Her star and how he improvised scenes and didn’t care about hurting himself.

Callen revealed he was with Phoenix in a room for five days. He had a scene and was mimicking the scene of blowing the head off with the 48-year-old. The comedian said how his co-star fell straight back and improvised it. Callen said,

“He would just improvise and do crazy sh*t where you didn’t know if he was going to even hurt himself. Remember when he punches the clock that’s not in the script, he just punched that clock off the wall. Todd thought he broke his hand, that was not on the script.”

The Joker co-star of Joaquin Phoenix further added seeing the shoot of the iconic bus scene where the character can’t stop laughing and confessed that was the moment he knew Her star was going to win an Oscar. He also appreciated the actor for his unbelievable routine. Callen shared that Phoenix went from bulky 124 pounds to a skinny guy appearance in a short span for the film.

A still from Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix

After the success of 2019 Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix, director Todd Phillips, is set to bring a sequel. The sequel is titled Joker: Folie à Deux. Phoenix is reprising his role as the Joker, and this time, he has a new friend coming along for the ride.

The upcoming sequel is bringing back the iconic character Harley Quinn to the silver screen played by Lady Gaga. The phrase Folie à Deux is French for the madness of two or shared psychosis. The use of a phrase in the title suggests that Arthur Fleck’s fractured psyche may be explored more deeply in the sequel’s plot, possibly introducing a secondary protagonist.

Phillips co-wrote the film with Scott Silver and produced it with Bradley Cooper. Joker: Folie à Deux will be a musical. Hildur Guðnadóttir, who worked on the first film, will compose the music for the new film. Other cast of the film include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.

Joker: Folie à Deux will hit theaters on October 4, 2024.
