You Likely Missed One Easter Egg in Tom Hardy’s Venom That Links it to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2
English actor Tom Hardy has been a very regular face in the movie industry for his exceptional performances in Venom, Warrior, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Bikeriders. Although he can be credited heavily for all his roles, fans worldwide know him for playing the role of Eddie Brock and his Symbiote companion Venom.
Certainly, many people must have missed an Easter egg in the Warrior actor’s 2018 action movie. Hardy’s Venom had a scene that definitely links the movie to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2. However, despite showering Hardy with love for Venom, many fans are unaware of an Easter egg in the movie that links it with Maguire’s 2004 action superhit.
Tom Hardy’s Venom Has This Surprising Link to Spider-Man 2
Directed by Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire‘s Spider-Man 2 was not only a commercial success, but was also a movie to be remembered for ages. Although released in 2004, superhero fans still remember the movie very precisely. Those who have seen the movie can remember that J. Jonah Jameson had a son, John Jameson, who was a very famous astronaut.
Well, John Jameson, the American hero, is the same man who got killed by the symbiote Riot in the 2018 action-sci-fi movie, Venom. The filmmakers have really planted a very interesting Easter egg in Venom that can take the viewers to a movie that was released almost 14 years back.
In Venom, astronaut Jameson bonded with a symbiote, Riot, during the crash of his space shuttle. Due to the bonding, he survived the crash and was being transported to a hospital by an ambulance when Riot reacted to being inside of him and attacked the paramedics. Riot then transferred himself to a paramedic, leaving Jameson dead on the spot.
Venom Had Quite a Few Other Easter Eggs That Fans Might Have Missed
Astronaut Jameson’s death isn’t the only thing that acts as an Easter egg in Tom Hardy’s Venom. There are a few other Easter eggs hidden in the movie that can surprise the fans to a great extent.
When Anne Weying, played by Michelle Williams, realized that sonic waves can affect Venom significantly, she referred to the waves as a symbiote’s Kryptonite. The mention of the word Kryptonite is enough to link the movie with Superman. On top of that, Superman belongs to a universe that Eddie Brock refers to as his home.
Further, Venom had Stan Lee’s cameo that created a light-hearted atmosphere in the movie. Towards the end, Stan Lee advises Brock not to give up on pursuing the girl he loves, to which Venom gives a baffled reaction. Although Lee isn’t the one who created Venom, his appearance was absolutely priceless.
Venom is available for streaming on Disney+.
