“You’d never say that to a man, my friend”: Hannah Waddingham Was Not Happy After a Reporter Asked Her to Show Her Leg in a Public Appearance
Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham told off a photographer who asked her to show her leg on the red carpet of the Olivier Awards. Waddingham was clearly unhappy with the paparazzo’s comment and warned that she would leave the red carpet if such comments were to continue. The onlookers cheered the actress after her bold stand, as the footage of the incident continues to gain traction on social media.
Waddingham was the host for the Olivier Awards, which recognize artists in U.K. theater. She gained popularity for her roles in Game of Thrones, Sex Education, and Ted Lasso, and is set to appear alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy.

Hannah Waddingham was glowing on her red carpet appearance outside the U.K.’s Royal Albert Hall when a photographer almost ruined it for her. Waddingham was posing for photos on the stone steps of the hall, wearing a one-shoulder lilac gown laced with beads. One photographer appeared to ask her to “show leg,” which did not sit well with The Hustle actress.

In a video circulating on social media, the paparazzo’s comments are inaudible but Waddingham’s response is clear and direct. She told him that he would have never said the same to a man and asked him to stop making such comments, of course with some strong choice of words. Waddingham shared (via The Guardian):
“Oh my God, you’d never say that to a man, my friend. Don’t be a dick, otherwise I’ll move off. Don’t say ‘show a little leg’. No.”
As she walked towards the building, she pointed at the photographer and asked him to have some manners. The crowd cheered the 12 Monkeys actress for standing up for herself. The South London-based actress proved once again that she is never afraid to speak her mind.

In January, Waddingham made another bold statement about not picking small film and TV roles. Speaking on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast, Waddingham made it clear that she would not do roles with a single scene as it felt insulting to her. She shared that she had been playing the leading lady for 22 years and wanted to be in projects where she was appreciated.
