To put that in perspective, the first film raked in over $53.5 million (via Box Office Mojo) in the opening weekend. So, fans were pumped for more magic, but instead, they got a lukewarm reception from critics.
They called it “more unfocused and less satisfying” on Rotten Tomatoes, which isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement. So, he went all out on X and Instagram, posting intense rants. The actor was out there trying to settle beefs and begging for ticket sales like his life depended on it.
But Levi didn’t stop there. He signaled that Dwayne Johnson was to blame for the film’s flop. However, as The Wrap reported, the 44-year-old clarified that he wasn’t blaming anyone but just wanted the truth out there. Yet, fans can’t help but feel like Levi was losing his grip.
In the comics, Black Adam and Shazam are connected, so it would’ve made sense to include him. But Johnson wanted to keep their stories separate, which left Levi feeling frustrated and talking passionately on social media about “truth and justice” to his fans.
It’s funny yet sad that Levi thinks a small cameo from Black Adam could’ve saved his movie’s box office, even though Black Adam didn’t perform that well either.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get crazier, the DC star stepped into the X/Twitter ring. In January 2023, he tweeted a hot take, saying he “hardcore agrees” that Pfizer is dangerous. Yikes! Many took this as an anti-vaccine stance, causing a media storm.
