While talking about his projects, the Man of Steel maker said he won’t be “knocking on James Gunn’s door” despite his interest in adapting Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns into a movie.

Zack Snyder Bluntly Denied Returning to The DCU Despite His Batman Movie Idea

Snyder Cult has been eagerly anticipating Zack Snyder‘s return to DC. However, the director has revealed his decision while promoting Rebel Moon. The director of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice shared that he won’t be coming back to direct a DC movie, despite having an incredible idea of making a Batman movie, adapted from Frank Miller’s iconic coming book. Snyder expressed no inclination about asking James Gunn to craft a project in his rebooted universe.

During an interview with The Atlantic, Zack Snyder opened up about the reception of superhero movies now. The director talked about the changing landscape of this genre and said “Now no one thinks they’re going to a one-off the superhero movie.” Snyder then added:

“I’m not knocking on James Gunn’s door, going, like, ‘Bro, shoot me one of those sweet movies. The holy grail is some original IP that you create that has resonance and is cool.”

Zack Snyder mentioned his potential return if Netflix still holds the right. But he’s more into creating the original intellectual property (IP), which resonates more and is considered cool. However, since the director is occupied with his new release, fans might have to wait more.
