During a recent interview (via CineFix), Zack Snyder mentioned some of his adored shots and said:

“I love in the black and white version of Justice League, there is a shot where Alfred is talking to Batman, but they’re in a warehouse and they are silhouetted against the door. And in the black and white, Alfred is just a silhouette. And the Batmobile is kind of in the foreground, it just this… as a black and white shot I just was like, ‘oh it’s, we used to joke that it was Citizen Wayne.'”

This scene takes place inside the Batcave’s warehouse where Alfred talks with the caped crusader. This shot excludes Henry Cavill‘s Superman and only focuses on Batman and Alfred in a visually distinctive manner. Snyder explains that he intentionally positioned them against the silhouette for the characters to stand out.

It’s surprising how many claim Zack Snyder as a polarizing figure, despite his making thrilling superhero movies. The filmmaker has recently opened up about his confusion regarding the backlash and negative reviews he gets from critics, leading him to be characterized as a polarizing figure in Hollywood.

During an interview with The Atlantic, the Rebel Moon maker talked about his work and said:

“Everyone’s like, you’re polarizing figure. You know, love him or hate him. I am like, ‘love him or hate him? What did I do?’ How did I get ‘hate him’?”

Despite the unkind words of critics, Zack Snyder has a dedicated fan base and was successful in running a campaign for Warner Bros. to release the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Apart from the negative comments, the filmmaker also talked about the current landscape of superhero movies. According to Snyder, superhero movies will soon run out of time, and said that “no one thinks they’re going to a one-off the superhero movie.” The director is currently busy promoting his latest project.

Rebel Moon: Part One is streaming on Netflix.
