Zack Snyder’s Zombie Heist Movie on Netflix Looks For a Summer Release
Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead is all set to release on Netflix in the Summer of 2021.
The zombie movie has an ensemble cast of Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Matthias Schweighöfer, Tig Notaro, and Raul Castillo. They play a group of mercenaries in a post apocalyptic Las Vegas, trying to pull off a heist.
So basically Netflix is doing another season of Money Heist, but with zombies!
The Long Wait!
The first time we heard of this movie, was way back in 2008. But it started gaining contraction after Netflix acquired the rights for the movie from Warner Bros. in January of 2019. With Zack Snyder at the helm, fans are rightly very enthusiastic about the progress of the movie.
Many photos made rounds in the internet. From behind the scene photos of the cast to the director, fans have been keeping track of anything and everything. At one point there was even rumors about a prequel, but nothing has been confirmed of that as of yet.
Army of the Dead’s debut will correspond with an illustrated companion book, named Army of the Dead: The Making of the Film. It means to offer an in depth background look at the various characters, zombies, and locals. The book, loaded up with selective set photographs and storyboards by Snyder, implies that Netflix plans to give Army of the Dead a major spotlight when it opens up to the streaming service.
Another marker to consider is that Netflix has begun to hold its late spring releases for a portion of its most prominent draws. In 2019, the buzzy rom-com Always Be My Maybe appeared similarly as summer had begun rolling.
At that point, in June of this year, Adam Sandler’s Murder Mystery came out and became one of the most famous originals from the streaming service. Even when The Old Guard was released this past July, it was viewed by more than 72 million family units.
Netflix has a conspicuous preferred position over customary film studios in that its simple availability could make any film an unexpected hit. All things considered, it’s likewise very much situated to make a late spring blockbuster period of its own. It looks good for Army of the Dead to hold quite a pined for space in the release plan.
The League of the Dead?
HBO Max will be releasing the Snyder cut of Justice League in September of 2021 in the form of a miniseries. Safe to say, fans are in for a fun filled Snyder Summer.
Even though HBO Max and Netflix are rivals, Netflix are looking to take full advantage of the fact that audiences as well as critics would want to watch different productions from the same director. After all the hype regarding Snyder’s Justice League cut, it will be a focal point of many. To see how the director fares to deliver his two highly anticipated movies, will be a challenging task.
With Zack Snyder though, we have faith.
