The impact of his death is immense, considering that he also sacrificed the life of his wife, Amane, and their daughters, Hinaki and Nichika, to catch Muzan off-guard. However, there is more to his sacrifice than meets the eye. Kagaya Ubuyashiki went above and beyond to make sure he succeeded this time and it was due to his extreme plan that he achieved what he wanted.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s sacrifice will forever be unmatched, not only because of its magnitude but also because of how he concocted the whole plan just to slow Muzan down for Tamayo and the Hashira to attack. There is no slight way to put this: Kagaya Ubuyashiki went too far by involving his family. However, the motive behind it was far too relevant and he was desperate for a chance.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki became the head of the Demon Slayers Corps at the tender age of four and since then, he always burnt with a cold hatred towards Muzan. He admitted it himself when Muzan arrived to kill him, and he was almost at death’s door. Although his physician had given him only a few days to live six months prior to that meeting, he persisted just to execute his plan.

Even Muzan was taken aback by Kagaya post the explosion, given that the leader could hide his hatred towards Muzan so completely and with such gentle bearing despite being so young. An X user, @knyesta, posted about Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s impactful death with great passion and notable awe.

Kagaya’s actions not only set the premise for the final battle but also gave Tamayo, a demon ally of the Demon Slayer Corps, to stall Muzan from fleeing. After the explosion, the Hashiras and other corps members gathered around the scene of the explosion, marking the beginning of the battle.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s Sacrifice Gave Demon Slayer Corps The Upper Hand In The Battle

The Ubuyashiki clan has led the Demon Slayer Corps to vanquish Muzan for more than a millennium since demons began to emerge as a result of Muzan’s meddling. The clan leaders’ fragile health prevented them from fighting on the front lines, but they continued to provide tactical assistance and cared for the Demon Slayer Corps forces as if they were their own children.

As members of the Ubuyashiki clan share ancestry with Muzan, Kagaya’s declining health was also linked to Muzan’s affiliation with their clan. It was a curse that no child born to them would be able to live long because the lineage gave birth to a monster like him. A priest advised the clan to kill Muzan in order to break the curse when they were on the verge of extinction.

Ever since they have led the corps to do the same. Although once a long time ago they came close to defeating Muzan due to Yoriichi, the First Sun Breath user, it ultimately failed. Had it not been for Kagaya’s sacrifice, the unprecedented attack on Muzan would not have gone so smoothly.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s shocking sacrifice was an integral part of the final fight with Muzan. It gave the corps members the opportunity to launch an attack first for the first time in history, giving them an advantage in the battle.
