One of the best thing MCU has ever done is bringing in a superb star cast. MCU has completed its 10 years in Hollywood and is now one of the biggest movie franchises ever. And talking about Star Cast, they have got Robert Downey Jr, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and now Josh Brolin too. But there has been even bigger names which were cast in some insignificant roles.
Being honest, there were some roles which didn’t do justice to some big names in the MCU. And today we are counting down our picks for those big names who were failed by the MCU.
1. KARL URBAN (SKURGE)
The part which got the audience excited for Thor: Ragnarok was not the Hulk and Thor fight scene. It was the introduction of Karl Urban in the MCU. And it was just so disappointing when he got just some seconds of valuable screen time.
2. NEAL McDONOUGH (DUM DUM DUGAN)
It was not even a role. It was just a cameo by a great actor in the MCU. A team member of Captain, Neal’s role was limited to drinking beer and kicking some Nazi’s butts.
3. CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON- MALEKITH
Eccleston did get to play one of the most important characters of the Marvel comic world. The Dark Elf Malekith in Thor: The Dark World. While this is one of the most prominent characters in the comics, he is regarded as the worst ever villains of the MCU.
4. THOMAS KRESTCHMANN- VON STRUCKER
Krestchmann is a genius when it comes to playing bad guy role. And he got one such role in the MCU. Von Strucker in The Winter Soldier. But then he was killed early in the Age of Ultron.
5. IDRIS ELBA- HEIMDALL
I went to watch Infinity War with one of my friends who has never watched the Thor series. And in the beginning scene, he was like, Wow, Idris Elba is in MCU. And I am not surprised. Idris Elba has got so less screen time in all the 4 movies he appeared that his reaction is believable.
6. GWYNETH PALTROW- PEPPER POTTS
If anyone has watched Seven, they would know the calibre Paltrow has got. The only good thing which happened to him in the MCU was Iron Man 2 where she got enough screen time to prove her acting skills.
7. ANTHONY HOPKINS – ODIN
This man has the record of getting the Oscar for Lead Actor in just 25 minutes of screen time. And you wasted such a talent on Odin. In the entire MCU, he has been either asleep or dead or shared a modicum of screen time.
8. MADS MIKKELSEN- KAECILIUS
Mikkelsen is one of the most villainous actors in the Hollywood. If he is going on for a negative role, he is going to nail it. We saw that in Hannibal and Casino Royale. And the MCU got an opportunity to take the best out of him. But he is disappeared now from the MCU just after one role. That too an insignificant one.
9. BENICIO DEL TORO- THE COLLECTOR
Have you guys watched Sicario? If yes, you would learn how a talent is wasted in the MCU. Del Toro had nothing but just two cameos in the MCU. The Collector is a crucial part of the comics and should have been given much more of screen time.
10. NATALIE PORTMAN- JANE FOSTER
Black Swan, V for Vendetta and many more. You don’t need anything to prove that Natalie Portman is one of the finest actress of Hollywood. And she landed the role of Jane Foster, the new God of Thunder. And she was completely ignored in the MCU.
