It has been a hard pill to swallow for Bruce Willis fans after he was diagnosed with Aphasia last year. The actor has had a remarkable career since he became a part of the Die Hard films. However, Willis was forced to retire much earlier than he wanted. His neurological condition which made it impossible to even remember his lines gradually took over his career which was seemingly going smoothly.
There is no denying that he has made tons of money from all the hit movies that he was a part of. However, during his career, the Die Hard actor has turned down several films that became big hits earning 100s of millions at the box office but starring other actors in place of him.
Bruce Willis Turned Down Multiple Hit Movies
Die Hard star, Bruce Willis is one Hollywood A-list actor who has one of the most successful film careers in the industry. But his early retirement due to Aphasia has undoubtedly halted a smoothly flowing career. And although it was only in 2022 that the actor got medically diagnosed with his neurological condition, reports suggest that he had been experiencing its effects for around two decades before the diagnosis. After the announcement a source told The Sun,
“Bruce is stepping away from acting and publicly acknowledging what’s going on with him.”
Even directors like Mike Burns who worked with him on movies such as Out of Death shared how they witnessed the deteriorating neurological condition firsthand on set.
However, with such a successful career, Willis turned down many roles in movies that went on to make big box office earnings. One such big project which he lost out on was Training Day starring Denzel Washington. The movie went on to earn more than 100 million dollars and Washington had been paid 12 million dollars for his role.
However, Willis for snot seemed to have any regret in passing out on this one. back in 2007, he did admit to regretting turning down his role in Ghost which ended up going to Patrick Swayze. Overall the Die Hard star has had a remarkable career with a net worth of 250 million dollars despite his retirement which happened way earlier than he had been planning.
