Henry Cavill, a British actor, is a gifted performer. In addition to his role as Superman in the DC Universe, he has appeared in other notable Netflix films and series, including The Witcher. The show has enjoyed remarkable success in terms of viewership throughout its first three seasons. When it landed on the streaming giant in 2019, fans were hoping it will be as big as Game of Thrones.

After the successful run of the first two seasons, The Witcher starring Cavill as Geralt of Rivia came back with its third season. The new season was divided into two parts, and fans were excited to see how the show continued its story. However, with each batch of episodes aired, fans became increasingly critical of the show resulting in a significant reduction in viewing. Less screen time for Henry Cavill’s character

When Does The Witcher Season 3 Part 2 Come Out?
Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia

Henry Cavill has been the face of The Witcher since its beginning. Fans have loved his portrayal of Geralt of Rivia. As the actor announced he will be leaving the show after the third season, fans of the show were devasted. However, fans were delighted to see Cavill one last time playing the fan-favorite character.

Adding to their disappointment, Geralt’s screentime seems to be at an all-time low in the new season. A user pointed out on ‘X’ that Cavill appears in barely “16% of the run time” of Season 3, Part 2. There are many side characters in The Witcher, and some new ones have been introduced in Season 3, but those people appear to be far more essential to the plot of Season 3 than Geralt. Cavill’s character has been a silver lining for fans, and his lack of screen time has led to the failure of season 3.

The Lackluster Writing

Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher novels are frequently lauded for their writing, and the series’ author seemed to hold himself to a high level in each volume. However, the show has downgraded its quality in writing after its first season. Season three of The Witcher has only taken a step further in the wrong direction in terms of writing.

The Witcher‘s first season did an excellent job in terms of writing. It introduced the audience to Geralt and the other important characters, built up their storylines across the episodes, and then brought everything together at the conclusion to show. Watching the season one final was a treat for fans. However, finishing season 3 of the show was a big task for them. They have pointed out how the new season of the Netflix show had boring scenes and uninteresting dialogues between the characters.

When it comes to adapting a fantasy series, CGI plays a key role. The setting of the show helps build the plot and attracts viewers. When adapting a fantasy series, an astounding amount of CGI must be used to make the final result appear otherworldly. Season 3 of Henry Cavill’s The Witcher lacked that.

Many fans liked the overall appearance of the show in Seasons 1 and 2, but the CGI in Season 3 took a turn for the worse and at times appeared like it should have been released in the late 1990s. Others have pointed out how evident the usage of greenscreen was in Season 3, which can ultimately take the viewer out of the show’s experience. When CGI and VFX are handled correctly in post-production, films, and TV shows may appear beautiful and realistic. Unfortunately, The Witcher Season 3 does not appear to hit the mark.

After the failure of season 3, the next season can be a game-changer. The fourth season will see substantial changes after the exit of Henry Cavill. Only time will tell if these alterations improve the series.

Season 3 of The Witcher is available to stream on Netflix.
