5 Actors Who Hated Working in MCU Movies Including Edward Norton and Idris Elba
Without a doubt, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is one of the most popular and successful movie franchises ever. Its total box office revenue from all of its films is a phenomenal $28 billion. Some of the greatest and most adored superheroes ever have come from Marvel. Some actors, like Chris Pratt, even rose to fame because of portraying a Marvel superhero.
The MCU has provided us with wonderful stories, unforgettable characters like Iron Man, Thor, and Black Panther, along with some nail-biting experiences. The superhero films from Marvel are packed with action and occasionally even provide comedic relief.
However, a few famous actors have admitted that they truly detested acting in a Marvel film. Some claim that the working experience is not as pleasant or nice as it could appear from the outside. Here are five actors who disliked acting in Marvel’s superhero films.
The conflict between Edward Norton and MCU
Edward Norton had requested certain script changes upon taking the part of Bruce Banner. Since many performers who play the lead roles frequently desire to change a few details in the screenplay, this is not such a strange request. And given that Nortan enjoys writing himself, he might have felt the need to inject some of his creativity into the story. The conflict between Edward Norton and the MCU has become popular in the industry.
However, things became problematic when Norton handed Marvel a completely new script just before filming and threatened to leave if they didn’t use it. By combining both scripts, the filmmaker attempted to reach a middle ground, but it didn’t work out well. Norton wasn’t happy about the expensive reshoots that were necessary to correct the story as a result. Even though Norton was fine with returning as the Hulk, the feud continued for a while as both parties laid the blame at one other’s feet. As a result, Norton was ultimately denied a role in The Avengers.
Gwyneth Paltrow hated all the secrecy
Given that both of her parents work in the entertainment industry, the famous actress Gwyneth Paltrow comes from a Hollywood family. People were stunned when she decided to appear in the Iron Man series, and they were even more shocked when she returned for Avengers: Infinity War. Paltrow had admitted to Entertainment Tonight that she no longer loves working with Marvel and that her acting passion has diminished.
She also complained that Marvel was too secretive because they wouldn’t always let her know which movies she would be in. Paltrow’s main objection to acting in Marvel films was that she was frequently kept in the dark.

Jennifer Garner did not like playing Elektra
Although movie buffs weren’t overly fond of the original Daredevil film starring Ben Affleck, most people thought its spin-off Elektra, starring Jennifer Garner, was even worse. Evidence implies that Garner didn’t like the movie either but she did not complain about it publicly.
But later her hatred of the film was revealed by her ex-boyfriend. When Garner called him, she told him how terrible she thought Elektra was, as stated by her ex. According to him, she was unhappy about having to work on the movie while being required to do so by her contract with Daredevil. Now the question is that why is she repeating her role in the upcoming film Deadpool 3 if she loathed filming the movie so much?
Idris Elba felt inferior
Heimdall was portrayed by Idris Elba in Avengers: Infinity War. Although he had been a part of the MCU for a long, he had not always enjoyed his time there. Elba admitted in an interview that he almost quit making Thor: The Dark World because he felt like it was torture. He believed that the movie underdeveloped his character Heimdall, which made him feel inferior.
Being so disrespectful of the role he played must have hurt him a lot because he is a great actor. Despite being an established Hollywood celebrity, he felt obligated to uphold his end of the contract and continue playing the part, but it wasn’t a fun time for him.
Ben Affleck regretted his role in Daredevil
Ben Affleck might have been better off playing only the Cape Crusader than the so-so Daredevil. Affleck has never stopped hating his performance in the 2003 film adaptation of Daredevil. When questioned about taking on Batman, he told the New York Times that he intended to produce a better version of himself this time around in the superhero universe.

Even if some fans didn’t appreciate how he played Batman, it seems like he was successful in changing how the superhero fandom regards him now and Bruce Wayne has been largely linked with him. Even if not everyone may adore his portrayal as Batman, it is still thought to be an improvement over his time as Daredevil.
