Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is full of strong characters, and there are simply too many characters in this anime who can throw around magic that could level a city block. Orsted, the strongest person in the whole story, can wipe out mountains without even breaking a sweat.
So when an anime sets the bar that high, it’s easy to forget that a lot of the side characters are actually insanely talented as well. This ranking is not about who is the strongest with magic right now; rather, it’s about who has the most room to grow into something terrifying. Some of these characters are already strong, but their real ceiling is way higher than what we’ve seen so far. Let’s dive in.

7. Ariel Anemoi Asura Has the Least Potential in Magic

Ariel is smart and cunning, and she’s got access to basically all the knowledge Asura Kingdom can offer. After all, she is the princess of this kingdom. That’s a huge deal. Vast knowledge like that should turn anyone into a monster caster eventually.
But here’s the problem: all we’ve actually seen her do is sit in a tough magic class and struggle through it like everyone else. She’s not shown flashy spells, she’s not shown battle magic, nothing. Mostly, because she doesn’t need to. Her potential is basically locked behind resources she hasn’t used yet, which is why she ranks the lowest.
6. Elinalise Dragonroad – The S-Rank Elf

Elinalise is known as a sword fighter first, but people forget she’s also a legit caster. During the Hydra fight, she was slinging spells left and right while also handling herself in melee range. This is something really rare in the world of Mushoku Tensei.
Furthermore, she has years of experience and will continue living for a long time, which means that time is her biggest asset. Consider the fact that during the Hydra fight, she was able to freeze one of the Hydra’s regenerating stumps using Ice Smash. However, other than that, there is nothing special about her magic, which makes her rank low.
5. Zanoba Shirone Possesses Insane Earth Magic Potential

Zanoba is a Miko, which already puts him in a different tier when it comes to magical talent, especially with earth magic. He’s not just physically strong; he’s insanely precise and curious when it comes to magic, and that combination comes from something most people overlook: his obsession with puppets and dolls.
Building and understanding puppets, as we’ve seen them in the anime, takes an insane level of control and detail work, and that same mindset carries directly into how he shapes and manipulates earth magic. Combine raw Miko-level power with that kind of technical patience, and you get someone who could reshape battlefields if he ever went all in.
4. Nanahoshi Shizuka May Soon Summon a Nuclear Bomb

Nanahoshi’s summoning magic already lets her pull random items from Earth into this world, such as a plastic water bottle, which is wild on its own. But the scary part is where this could go. She’s spent a long stretch of time around Orsted, arguably the most skilled magician in the entire anime.
If she keeps developing her summoning ability, there’s a real chance she could one day summon something on the level of a nuclear bomb. That’s not a small jump either; that’s a jump straight into the same tier as the strongest characters in the show. However, even with that, she cannot rank higher because she lacks the mana characters like Rudeus have, and Rudeus’s mana is what she uses to summon objects.
3. Roxy Migurdia – The One Who Taught a Genius

Roxy doesn’t always get the credit she deserves because she’s usually standing next to Rudeus, who ends up stealing the spotlight. But we should not forget that she’s the one who taught Rudeus most of what he knows.
Teaching a genius that well takes serious mastery of magic yourself. On top of that, Roxy has a long lifespan ahead of her, as she belongs to the Demon race, which means decades, maybe centuries, of more study, more spells, and more growth. Time is basically a cheat code for mages in this world, and Roxy has a whole lot of it left.
2. Cliff Grimoire – The Magical Prodigy

Cliff is a certified child prodigy, no argument there. But what makes him different from someone like Rudeus is that Cliff doesn’t have the mind of an adult stuck inside a kid’s body. Rudeus reincarnated with decades of memories already loaded in, which explains how he got strong so fast, as he had the thinking capacity of an adult. He was, in fact, cheating.
Cliff, on the other hand, is the real deal. He is a naturally gifted kid growing up the normal way. That means his ceiling isn’t weighed down by old baggage. He’s got pure, raw potential with nothing holding him back except time itself, as he is a mere human who won’t live long.
1. Sylphiette – One of the Only Few Silent Casters
Sylphiette takes the top spot for a few good reasons. First, she was trained directly by Rudeus himself, so she’s had one of the best teachers in the entire series shaping her from a young age. Second, her magic pool is massive, way bigger than most casters her age would ever have. And third, she’s an elf, which means her lifespan stretches on for an insanely long time.
Put those three things together- an elite teacher, a huge reserve of magic, and centuries to keep improving- and you get someone whose potential is honestly hard to even measure. She is not that strong right now, but Sylphiette might end up being one of the scariest mages in the whole story.
