Adam Driver Flat Out Rejected Fantastic Four But Marvel Reportedly Planning to Re-Offer Him the Part Under 1 Condition
Adam Driver might be the perfect fit to play the role of Mr. Fantastic in Marvel’s upcoming film, Fantastic Four, as the movie needs a genuine star to hold it together. Well, if the rumors are to be believed, it turns out Driver was indeed offered the role, but he rejected the offer. Marvel’s Fantastic Four was supposed to start shooting next January, but it’s since been delayed. Fantastic Four is scheduled to launch phase 6 of the MCU on May 2, 2025.
Adam Driver To Be Re-Offered Fantastic Four On One Condition
It’s been eight years since Marvel’s Fantastic Four lit up the big screen, and the upcoming reboot has had fans speculating about the probable superhero team in the MCU. Insider Jeff Sneider corroborated the report that Adam Driver is in talks for Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four movie, stating on The Hot Mic podcast that he’s heard that the studio has offered the 39-year-old actor the role of Reed Richards.
However, recent reports say that Adam Driver reportedly passed on the role of Reed Richards in Fantastic Four, citing he couldn’t connect to the character on page. Sneider said, “They did send the script to Adam Driver some time ago, but he couldn’t connect with the character. The script did not speak to him. So this idea [of him being cast] died very quickly.”
He also pointed out the one condition on which Driver could accept the role saying that there is still the possibility for Marvel to send Adam Driver a new script of the film, currently being written by Josh Friedman. The delay in the new script is also by and large being affected by the ongoing writer’s strike which is a concern for many major projects.
Writer’s Strike: About The Issues and Impact On Hollywood
The Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers had been negotiating over pay, streaming residuals and other issues for a new contract to replace a three-year deal that expired May 1. Members of the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild are striking in the biggest walkout for 60 years.
In the recent course of events, the Emmy Awards, which had been due to take place in September, have been postponed due to Hollywood strikes. The ongoing WGA strike has resulted in Marvel and many other franchises pausing production on multiple projects. The strike has had massive effect and over the months it has gained immense support and momentum striking at the heart of Hollywood.
