Adele, Ed Sheeran Side With Meghan Markle, Prince Harry? Reportedly Deny Performing in King Charles’ Coronation Ceremony Despite the King Being ‘Very Keen They Were Part of the Concert’
King Charles III’s coronation is on the way and he is doing anything and everything to not make it boring. A coronation is a ceremony during which a sovereign is crowned both figuratively and literally. The ceremony has several stages such as the recognition, the oath, the investiture, and finally the enthronement and homage. Following Queen Elizabeth II’s death, King Charles will be crowned as the new ruler. It will include various musical pieces and performances to celebrate the occasion.
It was supposed to include Adele and Ed Sheeran as well, but both stars declined due to scheduling conflicts. But people are speculating that the Grammy-winning singers did this in protest of how the royal family treated Prince Harry and Megan Markle.
Who will not be in attendance at the coronation?
Although the presence of Prince Harry and Megan Markle is in question, it is confirmed that Adele and Ed Sheeran will definitely not be in attendance on the 6th of May at King Charles‘ coronation. An insider source revealed to Daily Mail,
‘The King has suggested a number of people he would like to perform and Adele and Ed were on that list. He was very keen that they were part of the concert.”
The source further added,
“There is a team set up to get the talent signed up so they approached the two of them, but got replies saying that they were unavailable, which was a massive disappointment. They are titans of the showbiz industry and are quintessentially British but also known across the globe. It’s such a shame.”
Sheeran declined the offer because of a prior commitment to a show in Texas. Although the travel could be possible by a nine hours private jet, the Perfect singer prefers not to do so. Whereas, Adele has not been booked for anything on that date after her Las Vegas residency ends in March. People are speculating that the megastars sided with Prince Harry and Megan Markle, and didn’t accept the offer in order to support them.
Who all are coming to King Charles’ coronation?
Lionel Richie and Spice Girls are likely to perform on stage although not yet confirmed. The presence of Victoria Beckham is also not assured but even if she’s present, she will not be singing after being bullied for her voice by the public. The ceremony and the concert which will follow will be screened by BBC. Twelve new music pieces are being commissioned by the King one of which includes an anthem for the coronation written by the renowned composer Andrew Lloyd. King Charles handpicked each selection for his big day.
Evergreen hits such as The Phantom Of The Opera, Evita, and many more will be played to commemorate the event. Lord Lloyd-Webber is “incredibly honored” to be given this opportunity. He said,
“My anthem includes words slightly adapted from Psalm 98. I have scored it for the Westminster Abbey choir and organ, the ceremonial brass and orchestra.—I hope my anthem reflects this joyful occasion.”
The amalgamation of historical sounds with beautiful classical pieces will surely “enhance the splendor” of the special event. Thousands of tickets will be made available to the commoners to be able to witness the gala via ballot.
