Sabrina Carpenter has starred in several movies such as Tall Girl, its sequel Tall Girl 2, Emergency, and Work It. Her fifth studio album Emails I Can’t Send, released in July 2022, was promoted with the singles Vicious and Nonsense. The latter of these songs peaked at number 56 on the Hot 100, was certified Platinum by the RIAA (via RIAA), and reached the top 10 on the US Pop Airplay chart (via Billboard).

The singer also opened for Ariana Grande on her Dangerous Woman Tour in São Paulo (via Who What Wear) and was the opening act for the Eras Tour by Taylor Swift for several of its Latin American, Australian, and Singaporean shows throughout 2023 and 2024 (via X).

Carpenter’s new single Espresso peaked at number 4 on the Hot 100 (via Billboard), marking her career’s first top 10 single. Recently, Grammy-winning singer Adele praised the song during her Las Vegas residency posted by an X user. The All I Ask singer said:

“As I got into bed last night, because [it] was a very late night for me, I found myself singing ‘I’m working late, cus i’m a singer’, that Sabrina Carpenter song — that song is my jam!”

X account Pop Base reported this incident and Carpenter reacted to it.

However, the Feather singer’s reaction suggests she might have taken Adele’s appreciation in a different way than intended.
