After Almost Going Bankrupt Because of Johnny Depp, Amber Heard Moves into a $1.9 Million Luxury Villa in Spain With Daughter Oonagh
It is no secret that the actress Amber Heard is spending her days post the lawsuit in Spain with her daughter. After Johnny Depp’s monumental win, she claimed that Hollywood had become too stressful for her to handle. The actress is thus often seen playing, soaking in the sun, and having a gala time with her daughter Oonagh, at the land far away from all the glitz and glamour. Her main reason for moving there was to save herself from the flashing lights of the paparazzi and to protect her and her child’s peace. But lo and behold, the tabloids still end up publishing her normal day-to-day activities on a daily basis despite her efforts.
It is now being revealed that the Aquaman actress has recently moved into an almost $2M luxury villa, ending her days in anonymity. Although the paparazzi were successful in hunting down her whereabouts down at a particular time of the day, the exact location of her residence was shrouded in mystery until now.
Amber Heard moves into a luxury villa in Madrid
Amber Heard has packed her bags and moved to Spain for good, at least for now. She currently has no plans of returning to Hollywood and prioritizes motherhood over everything. Thus, her main goal now is to raise her child and give her a comfortable and safe surrounding to grow up in. Therefore, to make sure that happens, she moved into a 200 square meters property valued at around 1.9 million dollars luxury Spanish villa in Madrid. What people initially thought to be a long vacation has now been confirmed as her permanent address. An insider previously revealed,
“She’s bilingual in Spanish and is happy there, raising her daughter away from all the noise. I don’t think she is in any hurry to return to work or to Hollywood, but she will probably come back when the time is right, for the right project.
Prior to this, she rented a multimillion-dollar mansion to spend her days in the historical town of Costix which merely inhabited 1200 people. That being said, her life in Spain was pretty private, but with time people were getting anxious and followed her around throughout the day. One fellow resident of the town revealed to a Spanish publication,
“Everyone here treats her like one of the others; in fact, she’s been in this town for months without anyone knowing,”
Therefore to end the hunt going on for her, she decided to move into a very popular neighborhood in the city of Madrid. Familiar faces from Isabel Preysler to Juan Benet have been seen residing there from time to time.
How much was Amber Heard compensated with post-settlement?
The seven-member jury decided to award Amber Heard $2M in damages. Although Johnny Depp won the defamation lawsuit and was awarded a total of almost $15M for compensatory as well as punitive damages, the statutory cap prevented him from receiving the total amount. Instead, he received $350,000 for punitive damages, which is a significant reduction from the previous amount. Eventually, at the very end, she was asked to pay her ex-husband $1M over all the claims. Initially, Depp sued his ex-wife for $50M for defamation, to which Heard replied with a counter lawsuit of $100M.
Heard felt defeated after the verdicts were out and shared her sentiments on an Instagram post saying,
“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband. … It is a setback.”
She then further added,
“I’m sad I lost this case,–But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American — to speak freely and openly.”
After spending a few days in complete quiet, she was seen in Spain taking a break after a very hard-fought and much-publicized loss. And now has decided to settle there with her daughter to ensure a comfortable future for her.
