Not many people know that Tom Felton auditioned for the character of Harry Potter and as well as Ron Weasley during the filming of the first installment of the Harry Potter series. During an interview with a media outlet, the Harry Potter star spoke about his audition and how it went on to influence his relationship with Daniel Radcliffe.

Tom Felton Auditioned For The Role Of Harry Potter And Ron Weasley Before Playing Draco Malfoy

Over the years, we have been used to the faces of the characters from the Harry Potter franchise, that it is next to impossible to imagine someone else in their shoes. During an interview with the media outlet MTV News in 2011, Draco Malfoy of the fantasy drama spoke about his association with the franchise and his auditions.

Tom Felton confessed that he had auditioned for the protagonist and his best friend’s character too. The relationship dynamics between the two actors changed after Tom Felton auditioned for Harry Potter’s character. From playing the antagonist character to the titular role to Ron Weasley-Tom Felton spoke about everything. He said-

“I’m very grateful I am in the film at all, but even more grateful that I got the character of Draco. I think Rupert and Dan, there’s no question in my mind, there’s no one else in the world that, A) could have played the character better, but B) could have handled the behind-the-scenes pressure those guys have dealt with over the last decade.”

While talking about his Harry Potter family he further added-

“There was a great sense of kind of being on a team, and Daniel kind of flew that flag from day one. He was always the most excited, the most eager, he had the most fun on set, and through that, I think everyone just kind of latched on to him and sort of followed his lead. So he’s definitely been like the godfather over the years, and he’s definitely been the one that’s been the most inspirational, for sure.”

Tom Felton played the character of the arrogant and status-obsessed Draco Malfoy. Post Severus Snape, he turned out to be one of the most loved characters in the Harry Potter franchise due to the different layers of his character that are revealed in the Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows parts.

Tom Felton On His Rapport With Harry Potter Co-star Daniel Radcliffe

During his appearance on the CBS Mornings show Tom Felton spoke about his relationship with his co-star Daniel Radcliffe. Both the actors have spent a long time as bitter rivals for the eight installments of the billion-dollar fantasy drama franchise. While talking about Daniel Radcliffe. he said-

“I love the man dearly. I don’t see him as much as I’d like to — that’s the same for all of us, really — but I consider him a brother, definitely. Huge amounts of respect for him.”

“It was important to me, looking back, how important his enthusiasm and his eventual professionalism runs down the ranks, if you will. He could’ve very much easily, I think, coasted a lot of those years. And it seemed to me, on set with him, that he was always up for bringing as much as he can to the table, always being collaborative.”

Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe were just around 10 years old when they started filming for the first installment of the Harry Potter franchise during the early 2000s and despite being enemies onscreen, the actor duo have shared a brotherly bond with one another.
