Remember the quirky detective Benoit Blanc from Knives Out? Well, he’s back for another case! The well-liked Knives Out franchise, which started back in 2019, is up for another installment, Wake Up Dead Man, and it’s going to have a bunch of famous actors in it.

Daniel Craig is reprising his role as Blanc in the new flick. This will be the third film in the popular whodunit series, written and directed by Rian Johnson. Details about the plot are still under wraps, but we do know Blanc will be facing a brand new murder mystery with a fresh set of suspects.

However, there’s also a latest addition to the movie: none other than Josh Brolin, familiar to many as Thanos from the Avengers movies. This news comes hot on the heels of casting announcements Jeremy Renner, after Chris Evans started the trend with the first film (both stars of the Avengers franchise).

Josh Brolin joins a cast already overflowing with talent. Leading the pack is Daniel Craig, who is reprising his role as detective Benoit Blanc. Other A-listers include Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, and many more.

Fans probably know Brolin best as Thanos from the Avengers movies, but he’s no stranger to mysteries and thrillers. The 56-year-old played a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones’ character in Men in Black 3.

He also did a great job in the intense Sicario movies and recently starred in the sci-fi western series Outer Range. The star is already linked to Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune franchise, where he portrays Gurney Halleck. So, his mix of action and serious acting chops makes him a perfect fit for Knives Out as well.

Not much is known about the upcoming Knives Out movie, but one thing’s for sure: detective Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig) is back on the case! This time, there’s a whole new group of suspects and a mysterious setting for a brand new whodunit. However, director Rian Johnson‘s passion for these stories speaks volumes about the quality of these films. As he told Rolling Stone:

One of the things that these stories offer is the notion that the world is being thrown into moral chaos over a crime, and you know that by the end of it, an authority figure is going to stand in the library and put things back in place. There’s a comforting feeling [that] everything will make sense by the end.

There’s no official word yet on when filming starts for the new Knives Out movie, but it looks like things are moving along! The crew actually began getting ready way back in January, and Johnson hinted last month that they’re about to start filming soon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production for Wake Up Dead Man is set to begin in the UK this June.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is set to hit theaters and Netflix in 2025 (as per the teaser Johnson shared on X last month)!
