The star-studded cast of the movie is one of the biggest draws that can help the Simu Liu and Ryan Gosling starer movie to scale up at the box office. From wearing pink to getting their chest waxed in order to get that plastic doll-like shine- the actors have gone out of their comfort zone to give their best for Barbie.

According to the Marvel actor, there are so many similarities between the Ken’s of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie universe. As Simu Liu and Ryan Gosling both are from Canada, and they were present at Toronto Film Festival for the promotion of their upcoming movie. Actor Simu Liu even went on to add another Canada connection with his upcoming movie.

Simu Liu Feels Ryan Reynolds Can Be A Perfect Ken For Barbie

While talking to Entertainment Tonight Canada, the Marvel star pointed out the similarities between the famous companions of Barbie. Entertainment Tonight’s media representative Cheryl Hickey interviewed Simu Liu and went on to ask- “If you could pick any other Canadian to play Ken, who would you pick?”

To which the Canadian actor instantly replied- “Oh, that’s a great question. Probably Ryan Reynolds. Let’s get the Ryans.” The Deadpool actor is also Canada based.

On being asked what is the most Canadian thing about Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, The 34-year-old thought for a moment and said-

“I think to call Kens polite and to call them Canadian would be giving Kens too much credit. Because Kens don’t start the movie in a particularly empowering place. But maybe they get there near the end. Maybe they’ve become a little bit more Canadian at the end.”

He further went on to add-

“The most Canadian thing about Kens is that they celebrate each other’s differences and their multiculturalism. And they’re a very accepting group of people for the most part.”

Well, from the instant reply of Simu Liu it can be assumed that if Barbie were to have a sequel, we can expect The Hitman’s Bodyguard actor in a cute pink and flowery attire alongside Margot Robbie. Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosling fans would be more than happy to see both talented actors sharing the screen together.

 

Simu Liu On Being Cast For Greta Gerwig’s Brabie

Being Ken is not easy and actor Simu Liu can totally justify this. As the details of the movie still remain under the layers, but thanks to the movie promotions, podcasts, and interviews- Barbie fans have already come across a lot more than just the plot of the beloved doll movie. The Shang Chi star is portraying the role of Ken alongside Ryan Gosling in Barbie. During an interview with The Independent, the actor opened up about all the preparation that was required to get the plastic-like shine. Simu Liu revealed getting his chest waxed for the role. He confessed-

“Waxing has been an education, to say the least. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I have such a newfound admiration for the incredibly brave women who go through this on a monthly basis.”

Simu Liu was excited to be a part of the Golden Globe-nominated director Greta Gerwig’s cinema verse. During an interview with GQ UK, the actor mentioned that he knew nothing about the Barbie movie. The actor said-

“He literally said this verbatim. He was like, ‘If I could stake my career on any one script, it’s the ‘Barbie’ script. I really think you should do it.’” 

The star-studded cast of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie includes prominent faces from Hollywood and songstress Dua Lipa and Fast and Furious star John Cena.

Barbie is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2023, around the world.
