Will We See Marvel Spider-Man in Madame Web?
Speculations and rumours were making headlines this past week which pointed to a fan-favourite Spider-Man making an appearance in the upcoming Madame Web movie. Jeff Sneider, an industry insider, revealed that Andrew Garfield might possibly be featured in the movie and be the central Spider-Man to connect the worlds. However, Sony then changed its mind and wanted to rope in Tom Holland’s iteration of the superhero. In the end, all Spider-Man-related scenes were removed since the timeline of the movie became messy.

Sneider’s claims were supposedly taken in the wrong light since many people believed Garfield was axed from the movie. Angered over this exaggerated aggregation, Sneider took to X to clarify the rumours and only focus on the correct information since many fans may take it otherwise. Talking about the mess-ups and the timeline reshoots, Sneider said in the podcast The Hot Mic,
“I heard that the reshoots for Madame Web, the latest reshoots – which I thought they were up to something else – but I’m told the reshoots were actually to remove all the 90s reference from the movie because someone f–ked up on doing the math as far as like, ‘Tom Holland’s age would actually be this’, or whatever it was.”
He asserts that Madame Web is set in the 90s, a world before Spider-Man came on to the scene, so neither Garfield nor Holland would fit into that timeline. Hence, explaining the reshoots the movie had to undertake to fill plotholes and maintain continuity.

What To Expect From Madame Web?
The movie features clairvoyant superhero Cassandra Webb who can see the future along with other characters including Julia Carpenter and Anya Corazon. Madame Web is said to feature Spider-Man’s aunt and uncle too. Helmed as the longest Sony Marvel movie, fans are excited to see the plot unfold. Cassandra Webb will discover her powers and face her past in the movie, opening herself up to more troubles and fights.
Apart from Madame Web, Sony will be releasing 2 more Marvel-related movies this year including Venom 3 and Kraven The Hunter. Sony is also set to begin production on two more Spiderverse movies titled Silk: Spider Society and Spider-Man Noir which will hit the OTT screens on Amazon Prime Video.
