“Already looks better than the anime”: After One Piece, Naruto and Yu Yu Hakusho, Blue Period Live Action Adaptation in the Works with Warner Bros
After various shows, including Avatar: The Last Airbender and One Piece, delighted audiences with a live-action adaptation, we knew this trend was here to stay. The newest anime/manga to hop on the bandwagon of making live-action adaptations is Blue Period. Written and illustrated by Tsubasa Yamaguchi, the manga series is said to be one of the most thrilling stories with a teen artist at the center of it all.
Warner Bros. Announced Blue Period Live-Action Movie
A fresh new concept where a teen chooses art as a medium to escape loneliness and other dark emotions, the vibrancy of colors makes Yatora Yaguchi forget about all the dull and bland aspects of his life. As a student, Yatora has no trouble keeping up with the various subjects and things to learn. He excels in all subjects and aces all exams. However, when it comes to choosing a path in life, a career to settle into, Yatora cannot decide what he wants.
The series dives into students’ confusion while choosing their careers and even situations where someone as smart as Yatora is expected to benefit from his intellect and pursue a revered field. However, it all changes when Yatora feels pulled in the direction of art, where he can lose himself and find peace. The live-action film will feature Gordon Maeda as Yatora Yaguchi, Fumiya Takahashi as Ryuji Ayukawa, Rihito Itagaki as Yotasuke Takahashi, and Hiyori Sakurada as Maru Mori.

As soon as the news of the movie broke, fans couldn’t resist commenting and expressing their excitement over the project. Kentarō Hagiwara is directing the movie, which is set to premiere on August 9. The award-winning manga has had a lasting impact on the audiences as they shared on social media.

While die-hard fans are known to dismiss projects they don’t feel connected to, many people are hoping this live-action adaptation turns out to be better and matches their expectations. The first look of the movie has been well-received with the actors portraying the role have been appreciated as well. Many fans of Blue Period anime are waiting for the second season to drop, but they will have to make do with the live-action adaptation for now.
First Look At Blue Period Live-Action Movie
The first look trailer of the movie introduces the viewers to Yatora who feels empty and lost. Sitting in a classroom, he watches the scenes change outside the window and even feels so hollow that he drifts out into the sky. While the power of art was never in question, Yatora’s life changed for the better when he discovered a beautiful painting in school one day.

All the color that was missing from his life comes back in splashes, as Yatora picks up the brush himself and starts to paint. The deeper essence of the story lies in another challenge that Yatora finds in acing art. Other subjects might have come to him easily, but art is a different ball game altogether. The show dives into Yatora’s eye-opening experiences with art.
