Amber Heard’s Unabashed Support for Taylor Swift During a Tough Moment in Singer’s Life Deserves Some Attention

Three and a half years after welcoming her first child, Oonagh Paige Heard, in April 2021, Amber Heard is expecting her second child. This good news has put her back in the headlines, and so, now is a good time to look back at the time Heard showed her unwavering support to pop star Taylor Swift in a trial.

A couple of years ago, Heard was involved in a highly publicized, contentious defamation trial with her ex-husband Johnny Depp. The trial nearly annihilated both of their careers. Between the two of them, the Aquaman actress was the one most affected by it all as millions of fans and even some people in Hollywood turned against her. This was the opposite of how Heard behaved when some other women, including Taylor Swift, came forward with their stories of s*xual abuse.

Amber Heard Showed Support to Taylor Swift During Her ‘Groping’ Trial Against David Mueller

According to Business Insider, in June 2013, Taylor Swift performed at a concert at Denver’s Pepsi Center. At the meet and greet held before the concert, she posed for a photo with the city’s country music radio station KYGO host David Mueller, and his girlfriend, Shannon Melcher. Later, a member of the songstress’ security team accused Mueller of inappropriate behavior.

Later that night, Swift’s radio promotion director, Frank Bell, told KYGO about the incident. This led the radio station to fire Mueller two days after the incident occurred. Two years later, the radio host filed a defamation lawsuit against the Cardigan singer, alleging that he had not done anything and it was his radio host who touched her inappropriately.

That same year, Swift countersued Mueller on charges of assault, claiming that he had groped her bottom while posing for the photo. She won the case in 2017 after a week-long trial and the jury ordered Mueller to pay a significant $1 in damages.

Amber Heard was one of the celebrities who expressed their support for the Fortnight singer at the time. She tweeted that she was proud of the songstress for standing her ground. Besides Heard, James Corden, Nelly Furtado, Lena Dunham and Kesha also praised Swift for bravely coming forward.

Amber Heard Also Took a Stand Against Rock Musician Marilyn Manson

In early 2021, Marilyn Manson’s former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood accused the shock-rocker of abuse throughout their relationship a decade ago. According to HuffPost, a total of 16 people have accused Manson of various things and 5 of them are s*xual assault allegations.

In February 2021, Amber Heard weighed in on the mounting sexual assault and domestic violence allegations against the rocker. She shared a New Yorker article on her now-deactivated X account with the caption (via HuffPost):

Heard had also accused ex-husband Johnny Depp of physical abuse during their four-year relationship. Not only is Manson Depp’s close friend, but also the godfather of his daughter, Lily-Rose Depp. A lot of the cases against the rocker were dismissed.

As far as Evan Rachel Wood’s abuse allegations are concerned, in November 2024, a representative for the actress released a statement to Rolling Stone in which they claimed that Manson had filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood in an attempt to revive his failing career and discredit his long list of accusers. The Associated Press reported that he has dropped the lawsuit against Wood and even reached a settlement with her legal team.
