Last January, Jeremy Renner suffered a horrific snowplow accident that nearly took his life. Left with over 30 broken bones, the actor faced a grueling road to recovery. Now, a year later, Renner credits the unwavering love and support of his 10-year-old daughter Ava as his main motivation for healing. On New Year’s Eve, Renner shared a touching black-and-white photo embracing Ava, revealing how she gave him the will to fight during intensive rehabilitation.
How Did Ava Help Her Father Recover?
In an emotional New Year’s Eve post, Renner described asking Ava to “wait for him” after arriving home badly injured last January. As the actor steadily improved, so did Ava’s outlook and fear levels.

“As I got better, she got better, less afraid,” Renner wrote. He said Ava was the “number one reason” for his recovery, adding there is “simply no better motivator” than healing for the family.
Jeremy Renner also released a song called Wait detailing his accident from a father’s perspective. The lyrics express his pride in Ava and his determination to recover so they can share more precious time together.

What Details Did Jeremy Renner Reveal About His Accident?
As per People, on January 1, 2022, Renner suffered catastrophic injuries after being run over by his 14,300-pound snowplow near his Reno, Nevada home. He had been helping free a relative’s stuck vehicle on his property.
Renner was airlifted to the hospital and spent weeks in the ICU with major chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. He required extensive surgeries, including on his punctured lung.
In later updates, Renner specified he broke over 30 bones. He has been slowly recovering his mobility and strength through intense physical therapy over the past year.
How Else Did Ava Support Her Dad’s Healing Journey?
Throughout Renner’s hospitalization and early recovery, Ava frequently visited her father to lift his spirits. The actor shared heartwarming photos on social media documenting their special father-daughter moments. “Ava reminding me what life is all about,” he wrote alongside one photo of them sweetly holding hands in his medical bed. Their unwavering bond clearly provided Renner comfort during extremely challenging times.
