Robert Downey Jr. is highly celebrated and has captivated millions of hearts by his iconic portrayal of Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, the Iron Man star candidly discussed the evolving tastes of moviegoers.
Downey Jr. who is currently starring in the much awaited Christopher Nolan Film, Oppenheimer talked about shifting more focus on exploring innovative and fresh cinematic experiences, and the need to go beyond the world of superheroes.
The Marvel star said, “Audiences are incredibly dynamic, always embracing novel variations of genres, and they eventually move on from them. As an artist, it becomes essential to consistently surpass their expectations and offer them something new.”
Talking about his breakthrough role as Tony Stark in Iron Man, he said, “Playing Tony Stark was an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of something so special. But I understand that audiences are now looking for different experiences, and it’s up to filmmakers to rise to the challenge.” His Avengers: Endgame is the highest-grossing Marvel movie to date.
Robert Downey Jr Claims Avengers Would Still Be In Making If Christopher Nolan Directed It
Robert Downey Jr. is back on the big screen in an another incredibly amazing role in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated movie of the year, Oppenheimer. The film has already been released in the theatres on July 21 and it has been making record-breaking earnings besides winning the audience’s hearts.
For the new fans of Christopher Nolan’s movies, one must know that it’s going to be a long ride. Among the many great characteristics of Nolan’s films, one of them is their length. Following the previous trends, his latest release, Oppenheimer is ahead of all of them with a run time of whopping 180 minutes.
Well, apart from extensive run times, Nolan is also known for the time it takes to make his movies. Sources quote, he took nearly a decade to make the 2010 film Inception after delivering his first pitch. No wonder, why Robert Downey Jr., poked fun at the director’s reputation in a recent joint interview for Wired.
When the duo were asked what would’ve happened if Nolan had directed The Avengers, Downey replied, “If Christopher Nolan had directed ‘The Avengers,’ we’d still be shooting it.” In reply, Nolan added that had he directed the film, there would’ve been many more Tony Stark scenes.
